    Hey Verm

    I think I saw PhD & Biology

Maybe I’ve told the story before.

I know a girl who got an advanced biology degree. She became an expert on lobsters. Woods Hole Cape Cod. Doing gods work on behalf of Mac & Cheese.

School bills and low pay. She did some YouTube videos too for the little guys.

    She works at Fidelity now
She learned how to do modeling in school (math not bikinis you lech). All you biology wonks learn that stuff.

She now does light math shit for triple the money. Absolutely nothing to do with marine life. Telephone systems I think atm.

Hates the 25 year olds getting out of their Audi’s in the morning but she wanted a family and a life.

She subsequently facilitated a biology brain drain including her husband who did work with some kind of fish. Their kids are wicked smaht and they are a great couple. They have a self effacing sense of humor about society’s ridiculous values.

Be cool if this helps. Good luck

I don’t think I ever mentioned it to you, but I actually hit $20K (3rd place) in a big $10 GPP last December. It should have been $100k though, so really I just lost $80K.

I had Ball (Lebron and Rondo were injured) and he was way underpriced for his usage, and all I needed was like 45 DK points from him against the clippers. But lakers got blown out and he didn’t get a full 4th Q run. He got like 35 DK points and I still got 3rd, but I was a favorite to win I thought when the Laker game started. I was majorly disappointed.

What made it even worse was an earlier game had gone to OT, and both guys that beat me had OT pieces and I didn’t. So if lakers had kept it close or if no OT I win $100K. Brutal.

Your right that I could try to leverage having a PhD into a business job, where I would at least make more $$ than bio (and it would probably be easier too). When I was in school there was actually biotech consulting companies sniffing around, but I wasnÂ’t interested at the time in doing anything like that.

One of the most lucrative areas where the bar to entry is pretty low. Is "Sales". Commission based jobs pay well provided you willing to put the time and effort to close. Think real estate,Car sales ,ect . There is endless options here. including some that scale to very large dollars in large industries after your a proven asset.

Point is you can literally do anything if that’s really all you need.
If I am making $500/week it aint because I am grinding 40 hours at Target. It is because I have some sort of hustle where I am sitting at home in my underwear barely doing anything. Besides, I doubt I could even get any of those jobs you mentioned in So Cal, because I am a white male and over-qualified.

    But thanks for the concern.

Are you in good enough shape to do gay porn camming? DM a naked selfie to OSA to see if you qualify.

I agree with this guy on sales.

You seem overly qualified for some entry-level medical sales gig, which can easily parlay into like medical device sales and hospital sales. Having a wife doctor would make you even more attractive as they’d assume you’d be able to get past the gatekeepers and understand that world. Have a number of friends in that line of work and it’s relatively lucrative and not particularly demanding.

My one buddy calls me like every day to talk baseball or sports driving around and he works like 10 real hours a week, probably 30 with correspondence and followup and he always makes upwards of $200k and really isn’t overly aggressive chasing $. He’s passed up way better opportunities and he only had an education degree and taught middle school when he first started. He made close to $100k from the get. I assume you have no sales experience, but if you can massage anything on your resume to make it look like you do it would be easier, but they might just wing it on you with your education if you interview well.

Yeah, if I had any sales skills at all this would definitely be a good fit. I actually have a lot of doctor friends/family members local, so I would potentially have a pretty big potential network right from the jump. (Although the rules about that kind of stuff have tightened up a lot over the years)

Of course I have spent the last 20 years working with mice and tubes of blood, so not exactly a lot of sales experience to speak of, but definitely worth looking into.

My current career isn't all that bad. I am just so bored with the day to day monotony of doing basically the same thing over and over 40-50 hrs/week for years; but I am guessing most people have this problem.

Sales skills can be learned pretty quickly and are readily available for those in any sales industry. Can you mingle in a crowd of strangers and come out of it with a few good conversations? Can you connect with people, relatively quickly? Are you likable? If any of those things describe you, the rest can be learned with a moderate amount of effort and practice, depending on how good you want to be.

Sidebar: What you say here about how easy and profitable a medical sales gig is speaks volumes of how fucked up the US healthcare system is. If the healthcare system was operating anywhere like a reasonably competitive industry, a sales gig in that industry should be just as difficult to make money at as ones with comparable skill requirements in other industries.

Start a social poker league. A guy moved to my area 6 months ago and started up a league. It started slow but is now really picking up steam. He charges venues $100 per night to put on a tournament. The upside for the venue is it drives a bunch of customers in who eat and drink. Last night at my pizza place we had 56 players enter. After 6 months he now has 17 venues each hosting a weekly tournament. The league is affiliated with www.barpokeropen.com the tourneys are free to enter, the top 3 finishers earn a virtual token to play an online tournament every Sunday. In the online tournament roughly the top 40 win a $250 seat into the yearly $250K Bar Poker Open held in Vegas in June and the winner on Sunday gets a complete
    Travel package.

Trading options. Iron Condor, spreads. Stay with current job, start as a hobby and learn online, but trading with small amounts until you can make a decent living.

I was hoping he’s take up my suggestion to try doing gay porn camming. Even came up with a cam name for him (“White Hard Science Guy”) and theme music for his channel that would boost his cross-race appeal.

If you're indeed well-educated I'd suggest you look into tutoring. It can be very lucrative depending where you are / your skill level / word of mouth. Happy to help if you'd like to know more.
