Gotta say... As a pasty white dude from a small New England city whose only interaction with black folks before he was in college was was this one kid who acted tough to keep the neo-nazi hicks from the sticks from ganging up on him, I learned a ton about the “other” side of America from this guy’s movie, shit I would never had understood or comprehended from my rather sheltered upbringing. Much respect.

Looking at his filmography, dude really peaked early. Went from writing culturally important films to episodes of rather poor tv shows. That’s a rough fucking business on either side of the camera. A few missteps and you’re done. Doesn’t help every film is a damn comic book. RIP my man
