Air conditioner dripping through vent -- wtf does this mean

Right now water just started dripping through the vent (used for both A/C and heating) at a fairly rapid rate.

The A/C wasn't on at that point, but might have come on earlier in the day.

The compressors are outside. This dripping is inside.

Anyone familiar with what this means?

I will probably have a Russian A/C repairman come look at this, but I don't want to get ripped off.

Believe it or not, Yes, I do have an idea. It might not be the problem, but ill give it a shot because it is a common issue:

You may have a condensate drainage problem. Im assuming you have central air and a furnace in the basement? if not let me know

There is usually a condensation tube that drains water (both for AC and Heat); this tube may run to a drain. At times, this drainage tube can become clogged with debris (or it could simply be cut off by setting stuff on the tube). Quite simply, if the tube is cleared all the way through and into where it comes out of the unit, you would be good to go.

I guess the first step is to let me know exactly what you have here

The passage to drain condensation from your a/c is clogged, I’m being vague because every make and model of car is different. This could lead to getting royally fucked seeing as the normal unsuspecting person would know absolutely nothing about these drainage systems being clogged and how much it should really cost.

You would think PFA’s local grease monkey would be all over this...

This isn’t an AC problem. Ductwork is just empty steel box work.

The Russian will be looking for a water leak. He may have a remote camera to run in there. Prolly not

Plumbing or leaking roof collecting in duct.

    Take cover off vent
Get a flashlight and send your kid up there. Watch out for sharp screws.

    Brainstorm

You're going to get rapped. I hope you don't like your kids mother.

I mean, so many issues. Condensation doesn't start from the aluminum your duct work should be made of. There's a deeper problem.

Have you checked your basement? if no leakage, there is most definite moisture from her puss. I mean, from the pipes in the basement.I can check or double check that for you...I can send text.My point is....stop being a jew bag. The idiots here no shit. sideswashers sister that he fucks is Sarah Huckabe's grand-ma-inlaw...that says it all.

The better question at this point would be, "Is it going to rain sometime before October 15?"

    Anyway here's some further info:

    - Has not occurred since turning off the thermostat to where it can't click on

    - Dripping seems to be coming from some PVC pipe looking thing leading from the heater (??) to the duct. This is in the attic. Drip is happening through the return air vent on the 2nd floor.

    - There was no water running in the house at the time, to our knowledge -- no sinks, no toilets, no showers

    - House is about 20 years old, not sure age of unit. But nothing here is new. This has never happened before.

Feels like you have a forced hot air system with a humidifier

Steam is introduced thru a wand inside the duct or some similar method of introducing moisture to moving air.

So there is a water or steam line going to the duct.

The wand or whatever is prolly all “crudded” up with hard water sediment.

There ought to be a “shutoff” somewhere along the pvc line . A lever on a fitting.

It’s a job for the Russian.

You prolly have a “humidistat” on the wall next to your thermostat. This controls that water/steam getting pumped into your duct

The humidistat will not call for humidity/water unless there is moving air (air conditioning/heat). Thus when you shut off a/c you shut off the humidifier. Capiche?

If you are cooking in the SoCal hell hole I would suggest shutting off the humidistat and I bet you will be good.

I am just playing the home version of your game. I only have common sense - no license.

I don't believe a humidifier is involved here.

The fortunate thing is that the unusually cold 2019 in California continues, so I don't need the AC for at least 10 days, maybe longer.

The next few days won't reach 70, and then the days after that will struggle to reach 60.

    LOL 2019 weather

Brilliant move going with a Russian engineer. If he is a good Communist then you will be told the complete truth, charged a fair rate, and your problem will be fixed quickly and never return. On the other hand, if he is a capitalist or a weak minded conservative socialist, practice grabbing your ankles before he arrives.
Socialism is the transitional period of capitalism being taken over by Communism.
