For a split-second after I read the thread title I initially thought, wtf the school is just going up in flames?

    Shit

Not every day you see an iconic and intricately built 900 year old structure just burned to the ground.

apparently a good portion of it was saved, like definitely enough to rebuild with, but i dont really think ill believe it until i see it.

Yeah i read that somewhere too. Ill believe it when i see it because more times than not, something burnt might look salvageable, but realistically it ultimately isn't the case.

Donation pledges are already flooding in to fund rebuilding it. Given how much French culture has evolved away from that under the strict Catholicism when Notre Dame was built, perhaps something like this could be erected in place of the collapsed spire.

The Catholic Church is the biggest corporation in the world. They own all these places outright and taxfree.

True, but the church incurs massive legal bills and has to dole out millions on an almost annual basis to child molestation victims, so it could really use the money.

Anger as France sees 10 Catholic churches attacked in ONE week

A SEVEN day spree of vandalism has seen Catholic churches targeted across France sparking fears of a fresh wave of anti-Christian sentiment in the country, including one church being defiled with human EXCREMENT.

According to the outlet, one of the first attacks was on February 4 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Houilles, Yvelines, where a statue of the Virgin Mary was found smashed on the ground.

The same church also had the altar cross thrown to the ground and the celebrant’s chair was damaged.

On February 5, an altar cloth was found burnt and crosses and statues torn down or disfigured at the recently refurbished Saint-Alain Cathedral in Lavaur, in south-central France.

The fire was found early by a parish secretary and did not spread - but the altar and adjacent walls were badly damaged by smoke.

The former First Lady was smiling as she boarded the Ducasse du Seine Monday night -- just across from the Eiffel Tower -- for a dinner cruise experience along the Seine River with famous chef Alain Ducasse and others.
We're told the boat's captain ultimately made the decision to take a different route than planned for the cruise to avoid the Notre Dame fire ... and dinner was still served.

    Where was Barack?

An average homeowner's house burns down results of an arson investigation usually take around a month, but when it's a 50,000 sq ft 1,000 year old church full of priceless art and history, it takes less than 12 hours.

    Nothing to see here, goy!

christianity, like capitalism, is a dying cult. Good to see this building that has stood for far too long burn to the ground. It is a great time for freedom from religion in the world.

    I love today.

I’m an atheist, hope the Roman Catholic Church is eventually bankrupted by civil lawsuits stemming from all of the sexual abuse and peodophilia it has enabled, but would nevertheless hope that Notre Dame can be restored to its gothic architectural splendid. I saw it in the summer of 2001 and it was an amazingly beautiful place to see.
