No, Trump did not create a revolution. Trump and I guess Bannon played to the cheap seats. He promised to somehow fulfill the disenfranchised hope for revolution.

Trump was just an opportunist who stumbled into gold. He wasn’t a revolutionary thinker.

I think he had no more belief that he would win than Bernie Sanders did 6 months ago. The public is pushing them forward. It’s crazy.

I got a tomato for the next guy who says “the party ____”. The two parties are not a factor here. Is that good or bad. Not sure.

I hear lots of American political commentators say stuff like this, but they never give an example of anything insane (or revolutionary, or radical). Maybe Bernie is a communist, but nothing he has proposed could be called communist. Or insane, revolutionary or radical. Most of his proposals are just normal in many countries - including your neighbours to the north! I’m not even talking about lefty euro countries. Free healthcare, childcare, university, etc. Standard in so many countries. But in the USA - he’s insane.

In the UK, we have free healthcare (it’s getting ever worse since the conservative government came into power in 2010. A decade of failure. awful.) but expensive childcare and higher education. In terms of universities, there has been uproar every time prices have been raised. We are not culturally dissimilar to the USA (perhaps closer to yanks than euros), and even we think that childcare and education should be affordable. But you guys don’t.

    Big up comrade Bernie

This could go in any of our 3 active threads.

So Trump fired the whole Pandemic Response Chain in 2018. How will the Trump admin respond? Obv the political repercussions in an election year.

The Chinese factories were closed for weeks. If you closed my business for weeks I’d be near death. The Chinese are communists and they can do magic with money without a whole lot of debate.

Hong Kong is handing out $1200 per capita?

What will the US do if people have to sit out of work? What if Vegas is closed? Vegas can’t pay their employees to sit out like Macau did.

Who protects workers who can’t pay their mortgage? You gonna make credit reporting adjustments .... just to start? Are banks going to grant a bye?

Who is more disposed to protect workers? At least from a marketing perspective? Which candidate seems a more natural fit? The socialist?

Don’t bet what everyone else sees. You think you know. No one predicted 2016 until Nov 3rd.

Who is buying 1.3% treasuries for 10 Years? It makes fucking zero sense unless you are very afraid... not just of one issue but the collective risk. Political, economic, pandemic.

The Democrats are now making the same mistake. A lot of this has become a self-perpetuating problem, as the far left has been much more vocal, and therefore the moderate Democrats have become increasingly afraid to call out the insanity from the extremes in the party. This normalized the crazy left thought and policy, and now we have Bernie Sanders as the frontrunner.

This is an absolute killer in general elections. The far left is insisting, "We need a revolution now because..." and isn't understanding that most Americans don't want a revolution, nor do they think current life under Trump is terrible.

The way to beat Trump is to nominate a charismatic, sensible candidate who seems reasonable and practical. Instead, they're nominating a 79-year-old communist who wants to upend everything America is about.

    Amazing.
Dead on. It remains incredible to me that no WASP, vanilla senator with minimal to no baggage ever emerged.

The Democratic party is a complete shitshow and will be directly culpable when this doddering, criminal lunatic gets reelected and continues to worsen the country.

I was just laughing about Simpdog kid sports - been there. Triggered this thought.

If the US and Canada were hit equally which country would respond in a winning fashion?

    Yup.

I’ve been saying Bernie needs a Bear Stearns housing level economic event, but even if this corona virus thing lingers and kills the economy, it doesn’t feel like he’s the beneficiary. I’m just guessing, but it feels like Bloomberg would be.

I think Trump is vulnerable as fuck because he gutted the infectious disease chain of command and imported corona cases against the CDC’s recommendations.

It just feels like if he becomes vulnerable it will be because of how incompetent he has managed shit. It feels like the collective psychic fear would be about quarantines and shutting down borders and why we don’t have an adequate supply of medication.

It wouldn’t be a typical economic event where socialism would be popular overnight. It feels more primal and people would be thinking who can get medicine from point A-B quickest. Jeff Bezos isn’t running, but Bloomberg would seem the default beneficiary when people are ready to throw out the sitting president for poor management. The public clamoring for the open borders bleeding heart guy doesn’t feel right to me. I have no idea and I’m just guessing, but a pandemic economic crisis doesn’t feel like Bernie’s wheelhouse.

trump has systemically dismantled the implicit checks and balances that define a democracy and has converted the entire republican senate into an actual honest to god cult.

    that seems revolutionary to me.

I’m obviously not a huge fan but it would be a big mistake to count out Bernie in the general election for a couple of reasons

he’s a change candidate and that has huge appeal these days. also blaming others for your problems (like Wall Street and billionaires) is always a powerful weapon, like trump did with brown people and China

he also has the perfect message to counter the “economy is doing great” argument. it might be great as a whole, but it’s not for the average person, who if they missed one paycheck, would be bankrupt.

Bernie can simply say ”if you’re doing fine, vote for trump. if not, vote for me.”

an actual billionaire like trump might be a dream opponent for him

Remember when the folk in LA dragged the truck driver out and nearly beat him to death?

Now that I have your attention, do you think Trump is gonna detail his martial law options & procedures?

Don't worry, President Bernie Sanders will print plenty of cash so he can pay for everything.

Medicare for all, $15 an hour minimum wage, free college tuition, free cash, etc.
