Female Poker player kicked out of WSOPC Main Event that she didnít pay for.

Female poker player Catherine “Catrific” Valdes bought into a $400 WSOP Circuit Evemt at Bally’s but was somehow seated in the $1,700 main event. The floor staff realized the mistake a couple hours after she had already been playing and had amassed a 100k chip stack from the original 30k stack and even knocked out another player.

When the floor staff asked her what tournament she bought into, she admitted it was the $400 tournament and that she realized “after some time” that she was in the wrong tournament but didn’t know what to do, so she kept quiet.

She then went on to make a YouTube video that has since been deleted stating that she’s “new” to poker and didn’t realize the complexity of the mistake, but then changed direction and started complaining about how she felt like she was a victim because the floor staff wasn’t nice to her. Lmao.

Once she posted the YouTube video, it got the attention of some well known pros who roasted her and called her out on her bullshit lies.

She eventually made her twitter account private, and has since deleted the YouTube video.

Some Key things in the video.

    - She bought into the $400 tournament that started at 4pm. The $400 was a 15k starting stack and she immediately thought something was strange when she was given 30k. She also thought it was strange the blinds were at 250/500 already. She asked the dealer if the 30k starting stack was right and he said yes.

    - It wasn’t until hours later that she realized the mistake that she was in the main, because she looked at the tournament clock

    - She texted a friend (not named) who is in poker and asked what she should do. They told her to continue to play and if she cashed, they’d deduct the $1.3k she didn’t pay from her winnings (LOL)

    - She stated that after being kicked out of the main, the floor staff said she could still sit down in the original tournament she bought into but she decided against it because the blinds were too big. I assume she got her $400 BI back.

The some other facts started to come out.

Apparently her boyfriend, who has not been named afaik, had busted from the exact seat she was put in prior to a break, she had to of known her boyfriend was in the main. This was talked about immediately after she had sat down.

Pro Jesse Cohen was at her table and posted this.

Tons of people are discussing this on twitter, and most are being pretty harsh (rightfully so IMO)

Small-time social media influencer plays wrong tournament, gets kicked out, plays victim

Here's a picture of her, though she seems to be constantly changing her look:

She would be best described as a low-mid-level social media influencer, with 245K Instagram followers, 199K Twitter followers, and 666K YouTube subscribers.

Recently she moved to Las Vegas in an effort to become a professional poker player. In fact, she started her own spinoff YouTube channel about poker, though it has just 2 videos.

    Here's her main channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCve...yXvo-LWUs3dUmA
    Here's her poker channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC58...jqIIQiA/videos

Most poker players took issue with two things. First, they were annoyed that she knew she was in the wrong tournament (and paid $1300 less than everyone else), yet stayed there and kept quiet because she was doing well. Second, she spent time complaining about the "rudeness" of a floorman named Michael, and people felt she was playing victim when in reality she had sought to take advantage of a casino mistake at the expense of her fellow poker players.

Here's two writeups on the situation:

    Cardschat: https://www.cardschat.com/news/cat-c...nt-video-79023
    Pokernews: https://www.pokernews.com/news/2019/...wsop-33782.htm

Here are some quotes from her now-deleted video:

A break was coming up on the screen and I looked and I was like shit they put me in the wrong tournament . . . In my head, I was thinking I could go tell somebody but if I tell someone it will cause all this chaos. I was like, what if they stop the clock and people are mad at me."
I don’t really think they can do anything about it; It’ll mess up the integrity of the tournament.
She also spent time in the video criticizing "Michael" the floorman, and how he treated her, complaining that she wouldn't have come back to poker if she were a brand new player and had this experience.

Does this whole story sound familiar? It should, because it also happened in 2015 at the Aria, involving a $25k tournament.

Interestingly, Seth Palansky of the WSOP revealed that it's "impossible" to cash in a tournament where you're not in the computer as a registered player, so people like catrific had no chance to profit from it in the first place.

The computer system won’t allow it. Despite what a player thinks is the right way to handle a particular situation, rules are absolutely clear you can’t take home prize money in an event you were never registered for, regardless of where the negligence occurred. So, it is always the best decision to alert staff immediately once it is known you are playing in the wrong event

    My opinions on this mess:

First off, she's anything but a victim, and clearly she realized her video had the wrong tone, hence it being quickly removed.

I do think she knew exactly what she was doing when she stayed in the tournament, but didn't want to give up the big chip stack she had earned, so she kept quiet. I don't buy the "I didn't want to screw up the integrity of the tournament" excuse. How was this her problem? Besides, she screwed up the integrity by playing in the first pace. Shitty.

She clearly shouldn't be bitching about the way someone at the WSOP treated her. She's lucky she didn't get banned for life.

Also, may I add that the clickbait title of her now-deleted video annoys me, as it claims she was "kicked out" of the WSOP, when this wasn't true. She was offered to move to the tournament in which she actually registered!

Finally, I don't even understand her appeal on social media. I watched some of her videos. Well, not all the way through, but enough to get an idea. She's okay looking, but not hot. She's not particularly interesting or insightful. The production value is mediocre, and seems very derivative of other better known female YouTube personalities. In short, she's an average-looking, not-very-interesting girl in her 20s who talks about mundane stuff and somehow has 666k subscribers. I don't get it. But maybe I'm not supposed to get it, because I'm not her target audience.

A side drama has sprung from this.

David "ODB" Baker, who until now was flying high with praise from all angles after winning the LAPC Main, inexplicably defended her.

Also, what's up with these people who act shady at the WSOPC, get caught, and then do a video bragging about it?

First Jeff Boski, now this girl.

Honestly I think the WSOP needs to start handing out some more long-term bans for people trying to pull such shenanigans.

They should pick the biggest guy in the tournament and have him kick her in the front butt. Punishment handed down

I've always wondered what they would do if something like this happened to some semi-famous known poker players like David Williams or Bryan Micon?

What if they paid for a $5K tourney but were put in a $25K or $50K instead? They would probably compain to staff that they fucked up and that they could easily afford to play in this tourney. The staff would kiss David Williams' ass or maybe his feet because he has a foot fetish.

I take anything that cocksucker Mukul has as an opinion as a joke even if hes with the majority. Even Todd has to admit this punjabi mofo is an arrogant prick who thinks his skills are second to none yet hasnt had a decent cash in awhile he seems to be a min cash expert or close to it lately.. Every cash the last year sans one was well under $10k.. and still thinks hes on the level of Euros and others who play High Rollers.. If he was he'd be playing them.. Instead hes stuck playing smaller games and min cashing for 2X his BI if hes lucky and is probably a losing tournament player would be my guess.. Anybody know if he plays Cash cause if not hes a leaky boat and a bad bet for a horse..

Bit strange for Druff to not like him just cos he 3-bet him and gave him some needle. Would expect Todd to be able to take it.

She should have just apologized and took full blame for being wrong which she admit she knew she was in the wrong tournament instead of looking for sympathy because a head floorman or whoever he was got aggressive with her when he removed her from the tournament.

While the casino clearly made a mistake in assigning her a seat in the wrong they will always fix this "error" and never allow it to be so don't try to get one past them.

The thing is by doing this you are trying to gain an edge over players who paid full entry versus strictly playing against the house so I don't know how any person can consider this as being fair.

LOL at wanting to pay the difference after she built a stack up which is essentially trying to freeroll giving her an edge.

Also I would love to know who she asked that said it would be okay to continue playing and gave her this horrible advice that anyone with any live tournament experience at all should tell her you need to just come forward right away letting them know what happened.

Cat is also part of a staking group called Thirst Lounge 10 that was put together by Bill Perkins where Bill put up 10k and Party Poker put up 10k to play on their site (have to be out of the USA obv).

She probably could have asked any of these players with experience (Kelly Minkin and Ebony Kenny are both in this too) and they wouldn't have given her such horrible advice so I'm wondering if she even asked anyone involved in poker at all.

I'm not sure if she has gone down to the Caribbean or wherever Bill has a house at like many of these players have to hang out together and stream poker on twitch.

Most of the players selected I believe have way more live experience then online. They all seem seem friendly and appear to get along well. This started about two months ago I believe and only one of them who actually plays mtts online is having decent results which you can view at the link below (it gets updated daily I believe).

    https://www.thirstlounge.net/bankroll

    Twitter: https://twitter.com/ThirstLounge

It's a one year contract live/online staking deal where I think but cannot confirm that all profit gets split 50/50 at the end where Perkins is obviously covering a bunch of expenses along the way.

Looks like sheís had another meltdown yesterday.

She tried to sell some smaller WSOP action on twitter, got shredded by some of the poker twitter mob, and then tried (again) to salvage her rep by claiming that her boyfriend had ďfree-rolledĒ her in the circuit event so there was no motivation or incentive for her to be shady. Which of course just led to more negative comments so she locked her twitter, blocked some folks and maybe has deleted some stuff too.

Iím not a huge fan of angry twitter mobs but this gal is annoying AF

^^^^ - She was down at least a few grand from her stake opportunity with Bill Perkins Thirst Lounge which she quit saying her head wasn't in it and is still trying to pursue poker in a live spot selling action likely with markup?

Very shady in my opinion and the fact she has some social media following who don't know shit about poker makes it worse cause they will just invest thinking "WE LOVE YOU CAT GO GET EM" not realizing their chances of it being profitable are extremely low.

BeerAndPoker: What Cat did is more public so you can make the case Johnny Vibes is worse being a vlogger who likely showcases highlights of sessions and less mistakes that he makes. Her following is bigger though so maybe more suckers within it?

Here are a few of her deleted tweets. You can search for all of this on twitter and probably find more if you dig hard. I saw in one of these Negreanu was white knighting it up.

She needs to be quiet about what she puts out there in the twitter universe if she isn't going to keep it up standing behind it because people are just going to continue to screenshot her immediately.
