I may only be a trucker, but this headline today from a well-known online news outlet ground my gears:
“Miami could be underwater within 80 years, but rich people keep buying luxury waterfront homes — and local experts says there's a simple explanation for it”
Can you see the mistake in this sentence, the gross bastardization of the language with the increasing use of a compound word in place of a word phrase? Read this appalling liberal apologia to the corruption of our beloved American grammar heritage.
