This isn't too different from what happened to Yahoo in the early 2000s.
Yahoo Chat was thriving at the time, and a popular feature was user-created rooms.
Unfortunately, pedos created rooms like "Older men for preteen girls" and other sick stuff like that, and amazingly, Yahoo looked the other way and did nothing about it.
This went on for years, and the content in these rooms was beyond raunchy and often blatantly illegal.
But the day of reckoning came when someone informed Yahoo's major sponsors such as Pepsi, Sprint, etc that their ads were appearing as those rooms were loading.
So people were going to pedo rooms, and it would advertise Pepsi on the way there. Not a good look.
The advertisers were furious and abruptly pulled their ads. Yahoo then killed the user rooms, but it was too late. They never got sponsors for the chat again.

also fun fact this has nothing point nothing to do with chat rooms or whatever and is very much about actual child pornography being hosted _and monetized_ and racking up hundreds of thousands of hits while sex predators literally post the time stamps to 'the good parts' in the comments.

Some clean up had to happen. Content creators are just pissy that they are losing money when they had nothing to do with it.
This did speed up the process by making sure YouTube has skin in the game. Bleeding advertisers guarantees they are taking this seriously.
