Once you're done and have Cydia on your phone, I'll explain how to get the various "unauthorized" jailbroken apps.

    Follow instructions carefully.

Let me know if you have any questions.

This will NOT work if you have an iPhone 4S.
K will give it a shot tomorrow

    Hmmm.. not sure what happened.

I think the fact that you ended up in recovery mode was the problem.

It's bad that you upgraded to 5.1. Haven't kept up on this recently, but last I heard, 5.1 was not jail-breakable. It probably will be eventually, but the link I posted will no longer work for you if you're not at 5.0.1 anymore.

Prob :moonlanding but mobilism is a great forum tool to use for all jail breaking needs, Android or iPhone.

Plan is to just pay the extra 15-20 bucks for the tethering (when I need it) and switch to Verizon from ATT when my contract runs through

    BUMP

Evasi0n, the jailbreaking program for IOS 6 devices, is now out.

They have worked out the bugs, and it works great for all phones and iPads running IOS 6, up to 6.1.1.

Google "evasi0n iphone" and you will find various places to download it. I can also upload it here if anyone wants it.

If you want to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad, I suggest you do it soon. Apple might patch the vulnerability exploited for this jailbreak and release a new IOS, and you will be fucked if you upgrade to the new one and it's no longer jailbreakable.

Evasi0n is very simple to use, and there is very little risk to your phone if you follow the instructions that the program gives you.

Do back up your iPhone beforehand using iTunes, though.

So I jailbroke my iPhone 4S with IOS 6.1.1.

    It worked.

However, I have noticed that it is less stable than the jailbroken phone with IOS 5.

My jailbroken IOS 6 phone crashes and behaves strangely sometimes.

It isn't bad or frequent enough to stay away from jailbreaking, but I found it interesting that this jailbreak appears to be less stable.

On a side note, I heard a rumor that Apple disabled developers from being able to read a phone's UDID through apps. Is this really true?
