WASHINGTON — Just over 24 hours after announcing his presidential bid, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont has already raised $6 million from more than 225,000 donors, his campaign said Wednesday morning.

That amount far surpasses what any of his rivals have disclosed raising after their own announcements this year.

Previously, Senator Kamala Harris of California had claimed the biggest early fund-raising haul that had been made public, with $1.5 million in 24 hours. In comparison, Mr. Sanders’s campaign said its fund-raising in the first 24 hours came to $5.9 million.

The Sanders campaign said on Wednesday that its average donation mirrored the $27 average from the 2016 campaign.

Mr. Sanders received $600,000 in donations that will recur monthly, his campaign said.

Just more proof there are a lot of dumbasses in America buying into the Socialist bullshit mantra.. These idiots didn't learn their lesson in 2016.. If the Dems somehow decided to give the nod ot Bernie (despite claims to the opposite the DNC power brokers decide who the nominee is not their voters) its a slam dunk the head of Starbucks runs as a 3rd party candidate and could become the first ever Independent Candidate to win the Presidency because I don't know if Trump can hold onto the cross over votes if he runs and He will definitely get regular blue collar Dems that know Socialism is a fools errand and have enough brain cells to see whats happened in Venezuela and such

Corporatist Dems better watch out. Bernie has stepped up his game and his team is going to mobilize an even more dynamic grassroots campaign than what he accomplished in 2016.

Take away the politics for a second. Lets get real - the guy will be 79 years old when he is sworn in if he were to somehow win. That alone doesn't give me a ton of confidence. There comes a point where you have to accept that his chance has passed.

If voters really want a Bernie, maybe put Larry David in his place. He does a spot-on Bernie Sanders impression, and hell...they are literally related and cousins anyway! LOL

He is in excellent health. And his likely opponent in the general election, assuming the GOP wants any shot of winning in 2020, i.e. Trump, is about the same age and not as physically (or mentally) fit.

About the same age? Oh yeah, give or take a decade LOL. Trump took office when he was 70. (which is btw the oldest president in history when taking office). Bernie would be literally turning 80 during his first year in office.
