I just skimmed an article in Sports Illustrated about Chess in the late 60’s & early 70’s. The Chess Boom with Bobby Fisher. The main character that drove the piece was a woman who was early 20’s and quite the prodigy and of course out of place given her gender and the times. She is still around at 80.
She ran a chess club in New York and everyone would go out drinking when the club closed at 2AM.
People are fascinated how those folks interacted and what the scene was like. The same will be true of the Poker Boom. Folks will find it interesting 50 years from now. It’s going to appear to be a very very strange phenomenon.

During the 2009 World Series of Poker I stopped Micon the Icon in one of Rio's hallways to hand him a couple of food vouchers. As a token of appreciation he asked me if I wanted a hat and gave me the white NWP cap he was wearing. It's pretty high quality and also looks quite neat. I like it.
What was the deal with the metal tab that came with the DD(?) hat? Can't remember, but there was some Micon story involving that metal tab.
