So, today I had a day trip to Chernobyl:

It's just as mad as you'd expect. All these pictures are from the exclusion zone.

Here is the kindergarten in the village Kopachi:

What is the process of visiting? Is it a tourist thing? Were there many other people looking around? Giftshop?

You have to go with an accredited tour guide - yes it is a tourist thing. It's very easy to do. My group had 8 people and I saw only one other group the whole day. It was -15 celcius all day (5 farenheit) so not the best day for foreign visitors and I imagine its much busier in summer.

A giftshop exists at the border of the 30km exclusion zone but its shit

Reminded me more of COD4 map 'Bloc', especially with the wheel and the pool.

Interesting trip report. I am considering a trip there, but I have questions:

1 - Did you have to wear a radiation suit?

2 - Did you have to wear breathing protection?

3 - Do you glow in the dark now?

4 - Did you suffer additional loss of potency?
(long before there was a PFA i had my Grenade & Crossbones avatar at DD)

There's a dress code, but its simple. Wear long sleeves, no shorts, no open shoes. In summer it might be annoying but in the winter its a no brainer. I wore winter jacket, jeans, winter boots and gloves.

And did you dispose of all those cloths and shoes and change into clean ones when leaving?
