I kind of feel bad about this. To be clear I think it was 88.5 just before the deal. How much of that was Bryce built in - who knows.
Philly was good anyway. I actually wouldn’t fade. I thought about taking the obvious middle but I like my bet.
Here’s the epitaph on Harper.
He passed on 4/45 Dodgers. That’s crazy. I think Harper wanted to have a career on a team. No opt out no trade with Phillies.
He wants to win and rack up numbers. Be the face of a franchise. Neither was going to happen in LA. Nobody cares there too. It wasn’t about the money. My respect grows for Harper’s desire to compete.
I still think he is going to be nearly blind before that contract ends. He has terrible vision mid twenties and, as we all know, it just gets worse.
The elite hitters are 20-10 or similarly impressive.
Phillies actually look like they will have same wins as Dodgers are projected. That’s funny and it sure is a tougher division.
Gonna be fun.
Not that this NEVER happens, but it is kinda odd to see the Dodgers claim a guy off waivers from the Orioles.
That bullpen situation in dodger camp must be looking a bit rough
Dodgers must have seen something in him that they liked. Definitely their recent record with acquiring nobodies who turn into highly productive Major Leaguers can't be questioned.
He did look excellent in 2016, before having a mediocre 2017 and pretty bad 2018.
You never know with middle relievers, though. I've always felt the best play was acquiring a bunch of guys super cheap in spring training, and see who looks good.
Not sure if Sanlmar wrote this or not, but....Kershaw article

I was wondering how many anti-Dodgers bets were going to be there, and you didn't disappoint.
Though Rockies +450 isn't a bad line at all, since the other 3 teams besides the Dodgers don't have much of a chance. Giants suck, Dbacks suck, and Padres look .500-ish.
I have been talked into doing it before, but in general I'm anti-Opening-Day as far as attending the game.
Not because there's anything wrong with the game itself, but because the prices are insane -- often more than it costs to attend the playoffs.
In reality, it's one game of 162, at a time of the season when everyone is just getting the rust off, and no teams are locked in an exciting battle for the playoffs.
Then there's the whole day game thing which can suck due to heat, but tomorrow should be fairly cool in LA, so that's not really an issue this year.
Dodgers made the team worse in 2019, yet they're heavily favored to win the NL West (which is correct).
Nice life.
Where is Willie? I want to hear about how he feels about the Cardinals.
I did fade Greinke. Makes me kind of sad. But facts are facts. I wonder if he’ll be dealt.
In parts of the country where the 4 seasons are celebrated Opening Day is a rite of spring. It’s a Day game in the middle of the week. The ticket affords the bearer status and entitles him to skip work without any challenge.
Its a party downtown and an excuse to day drink. It’s a bit different when your park is downtown and a walk or Uber from your office
It’s either that or sacrifice a lamb.
Another fun prop was under 54½ steals.
The Royals are awful but they are going to start another trend. They initiated the new age of the reliever on their way to their World Series. This year they appear to want to use speed.
The nerds believe an out caught stealing is worse than the benefit of a successful stolen base.
Billy Hamilton, Merrifield, Gore and Mondesi are gonna be showtime on the base paths.
Royals will still lose and I took the under but it’ll be fun.
Is a future bet on the Astros winning it all even worth it?

Now there's a lineup that MIGHT make the playoffs in AAA.
Some teams are maybe seeing that the writing is on the wall with service time manipulation and starting their rooks in the bigs day 1 this year. Alonso in NY, and Tatis and Paddack in SD. White Sox just straight up extended Eloy before day 1, which was even ballsier.
I don't watch any baseball other than Mets games (and I watch about 120 a year) so it's hard to have context, but deGrom was filthy today. Hear a lot about Scherzer (he has an awesome slider) but deGrom looked better on the mound on opening day. 162-0 is still on!
Dated a girl from Queens from age 19-22 (2013-2015), spent all 3 summers with her family in the US and went to loads of Mets games. Lucky to see a tonne of Matt Harvey and even went to the all star game which was also at Citi Field. Fell in love with the Mets and out of love with her. Now she's a high-flying NYU grad and Mets aren't flying anywhere, gg
Dbacks are terrible now. They're finishing last.
Dodgers hit 8 HR today.
Picking up where they left off in that department.
1-7 in the lineup all are projected to hit over 20 if they play full time, some over 30.

Mets fans don’t give enough Bernie credit for bankrupting ownership and forcing the Mets to work smart and not just throw big $ at old stars
