Being that he went to the "other" New York, there was the jump right away that they were screwing over the Yankees. That would make more sense if the trade actually happened right at the deadline (they were stringing them along or some nonsense), but it did not. Now I read today that sources from the Twins say that Toronto demanded 1 of the top 2 prospects (Lewis and Kiriloff) from Minnesota and got a hard no on that. Supposedly, Toronto never made another offer with Minnesota before accepting the Mets deal.

Maybe they just wanted him shipped to the other league. Kinda dumb since he only has 1 more year of control and can wind up right back in the AL before Toronto expects to contend again anyway.
It didn't seem like the Jays got much for Stro, Blisterfinger or Biagini.

The market for pitchers was quite odd....there were some big names out there but no one wanted to pay up for them. Only Houston had the balls to go big.

But if I'm the Jays and wasn't getting much for pitchers, keep them?! They have money since the young guys cost less than a large beer at the Rogers Centre.

Ya that trade also. If anyone can turn around blisterfinger, its Houston.

Granted Houstons depth in recent years in unrivaled outside of Chavez Ravine, and Fisher probably wouldve got regular PT with about 26 other clubs by now, but still he hasn't shown well in his first 300 MLB at bats. The fact Toronto threw in a prospect along with two MLB pitchers to get just him is astounding.

Trading with Houston in MLB should now be considered the same as trading with Belichick in football. If they're ready to agree, you should ask yourself what you are doing wrong here.

It’s been pretty sweet. I may be watching more Indians than you.

Astros around the corner. That’s gonna be a lot of fun. What’s the buzz like in Cleveland?

I’m like an hour from Cleveland on Ohio/PA border, and I have been spending most of my free time in Pa. In Youngstown, everyone is an Indians fans. I think most are realistic. At least all my friends are and local radio.

It’s been a nice season thus far. Honestly, this front office and Tito never piss me off really. I’m just content they’ve held it together this year. I’d prefer a different owner who didn’t buy at the top of the market years ago, but given their constraints, I have zero complaints. I don’t think they’re anywhere near good enough to take down the Yankees or Astros unless they happen to get all their pitchers healthy and in great form at the right time. Salazar looked like a shell of himself yesterday topping out at 87 and is already back on 10 day for groin pull, which is puzzling as to why they even threw him. Not promising. My first thoughts on the trade are positive because they desperately need offense and they’ve had a good track record of late developing pitchers, so I like the move.

I’m curious what you and gut think? I don’t follow the league anywhere near as close as you guys do. Obviously I’ve seen a lot of Puig, but don’t know much about Reyes beyond his raw stats. Did you think it was a good trade?

Most here are happy at the prospect of some offensive help and the trade was well received. My dad and I both watch almost every game. My fathers wife is an absolute diehard on another level who never misses an inning even if she’s working or traveling. She’s optimistic, but she’s always optimistic. My dad and her grabbed one of those dugout suites for the next two on sat/Sunday against the Angels, so the move has certainly created some new excitement to get up there for them.

I mean, Bauer gonna Bauer. I think the Indians made the best out of a weird situation. Bauer is against signing any long-term extension. He has 1 more year of control, so his trade value would only go down after this deadline.

In return, they became the first team ever to acquire 2 guys who already had 20 hr's in a trade....plus a guy who can be a back-of-rotation starter now and another prospect or two. Thats pretty solid, even with Puig being a rental.

For the rest of this season....the trade doesn't make me flinch one way or the other as a Twins guy. I still like our lineup compared to yours, and your pitching staff just took a big hit. Salazar seems like toast, who knows about Kluber, Carrasco. Should make for some entertaining games the rest of the way though.

Basically, i think it was a trade the Indians had to make, and they extracted a good amount of value from it while remaining competitive this year.

    Wow What a post.

Except the depth thing. New York is the poster child for depth, not LA. But spot on otherwise.

Blister-finger participates in a perfect game following this post. His mix of pitches and approach were completely different. Look at his record & his numbers. Good lord. That makes you sit up and take notice.

We have Greinke tomorrow. Really really interesting

Is Trout worth 3:1 odds for the home run title? I kinda lean yes. Who will be rested more. Bellinger or Trout. Angels have a history of shutting him down. Bellinger is clearly headed for load management but Dodgers play to the crowd. Why do I dismiss Yelich? But I do.

How mediocre are almost all the teams in the NL this year?

The Mets are 1 game behind St. Louis for wildcard #2.

Wildcard #1 belongs to the Nationals, who were barely ahead of the Marlins at one point this season.

There's the Dodgers (79-41), the Braves (70-50, but honestly a very flawed team), and everyone else is mediocre or worse.

If the Dodgers don't run over the NL in the playoffs, it's going to be an embarrassment.

I still got my secret decoder ring. It works for Sonatine posts too.

    I can tell you’re pumped. That’s great.

Congrats on Balty. Some very crazy times.

Wait til you see Astros v the historically bad Tigers next week. One game might be +550. It is a bit conceivable you will see +600.

    Astounding.

I’ll tell you another thing that is working. Take a look at runaway beat downs.

Examine the total over live. Again the Astros the other day 23-2. Today it was TB and Tor. Your instincts and the line will spell under - wrong. 16 - 20 looks ridiculous. You will get plus odds. It’s hard. It was so hard for me.

When you think too many runs have been scored already and you missed out... guess again. Stick a small bet in there just to experiment.

The rest of game 3 way bet live is something to watch too. 3 way bets suck cause the hold is greater HOWEVER the algorithm always favors the losing team. As if the winning team is gonna let off the gas. The winning team will be offered at a juicy positive price. ITS A MONEYTRUCK ...

Watch some sample games with these ideas in mind.

Interesting times. Arrest any opinion about the state of baseball today and just look at it as a puzzle

Position players are finding their way into the mound again too.

Position players are instructed not to try to be Max Scherzer. Just throw it over the plate. Let them hit it and let the defense work. We want to go home.

With this in mind if you have live player props you bet number of pitches thrown 1-3. The second it’s fucking announced what the plan is you fire small and repeat unless the player throws like 50 cent.

I will match Nats 1-3 vs Dodgers 1-3.

The Asian stock market shit show is hard to leave.

Isn’t the crackpipe & kakfight watch guy in Hong Kong? That looks like a real good time right now. That’s all gonna roll this way.

Sorry san, after a childhood of feeling like the Indians were the Yankees triple-a affiliate, I still love beating them more than anything in the world. I’m sure we’ll score 2 runs the next two games, but tonight has been glorious.

And with the lead the Yankees have, they might prefer to lose this one anyway. Keeps the scarier teams further from the wildcard.

Nats Braves / Indians Minny / Cubs Cards ...

asterisk Cubs Cards. That’s actually some sad shit.

Those races build new loyalty & favorites with the public. I mean aside from traditional geography.

In contrast, NYY & Dodgers ... there is no reason to give a particular shit at this point. The HR thing is not interesting so don’t go there. Every woke person knows the score and is bored by it.

Thus, I haven’t paid attention to Sawks or Yankees for weeks.

I’m a Francona guy so I follow. Minny bullpen makes me squeamish.
