These Atlanta Braves are so close to breaking out. So young.

I got a bet riding and am thoroughly enjoying these kids

Soroko 21 pitching a 3 hit shutout thru 7. All his pitches are released from EXACTLY the same slot. It’s freaky for a 21 yr old. Mike Soroka looked better than Padres Paddack to me

Riley 22 is the #4 prospect and in his 2nd at bat went yard.

I’d keep them in your betting rotation.

This picture looks like two Legion kids.

Braves Relief will take my money but that’s the game.

fun fact....going into today, only 12 MLB teams have a positive run differential. The league is a wee bit top heavy again.

Even weirder, the Reds, currently in last place in the NL Central at 19-24, are one of those 12 teams, and in fact 8th with a +29 run differential!

I had lost track of how well the Twins are playing. The Indians start like this every year under Francona. They’re sitting 26-25. Last year through 51 games, 26-25. They’ve had the luxury of a poor ass division. This year looks different with Twins. Won’t call it over yet, but it’s trending that way in a hurry.

Who would've pegged the Twins having a 35-16 start?

Honestly, at 9 games out, the Indians are pretty much done already. I don't see them recovering from this. They need to shoot for the wildcard.

Three of the six divisions already have their very likely winners sitting up top: AL Central (Twins), AL West (Astros), and NL West (Dodgers). Going to be a snoozer in those 3 divisions, most likely.

Cardinals have been a big disappointment at 26-25. No clutch hitting on that team. It's brutal betting on them. I could see them turning it around and winning the division, but it's probably not happening. Funny how the Pirates have hung around over .500. That's a pretty bad team.

Washington was just a hair ahead of the Marlins a few days ago, which is pretty stunning. I thought they'd be kinda .500-ish, maybe better. Still time to turn it around, but they're 21-31 and 10 back, so I think at best they kinda semi-contend for a wildcard spot but don't make it.

I bet on the Red Sox yesterday. Such an infuriating team. They come back in the 9th to tie it, load the bases, shit the bed, and then hand the game away in the bottom half. Sadly they'll probably find a way to sneak into the undeserved 2nd wildcard this year.

Really seems like Houston's year again so far.

About 1/3 of the way through, and a Dodgers/Astros World Series is looking like it's quite possible again.

I agree they’re very likely done with a few key injuries, but they’re absurdly predictable for the first 60 games every year since francona and that makes me not ready to call it a season.

Like I mentioned they have exact record as last year through 51.
But going back four years, through 51.
    2017-27-24. 101 wins
    2016 -27-24. 94 wins

In four seasons through 51 games, they’ve had essentially an identical record and won over 91 games every season. Averaged 95 wins, won 102 in ‘17. I always tell my dad I’ll start watching when they have a hundred games left. To me being within one game at same point four years in a row is amazing, and would seem
to be a betting opportunity. Bet against them as favorites first 60. Fire on them last 100.

    This team can't pitch.

I went to tonight's game with Benjamin

They lost 8-5 after the lead changed hands multiple times.

Sure, they left 11 men on base, and that's what the talk shows keep focusing upon, but that's the wrong way to look at it. They scored 5 runs. They scored 7 the game before. They lost both. They won several others earlier where they gave up a bunch of runs, but scored even more.

It's such a shame to waste this potent offense. Joe Kelly continues to suck, though to be fair, they were already behind 6-5 when he coughed up that extra run.

Even Jansen didn't pitch all that well tonight (in a non-save situation)

Dylan Floro has been the only good middle reliever.

If the plan is, "We need more than 5 runs to win", it's going to be a long season.

David Freese is so clutch, though. Every time the guy needs to get a hit, he gets a hit. He did that last year as soon as he joined the Dodgers, and he is already doing it this year.
Giving up 5.5 runs a game, even if 3 were in Colorado, is not going to get it done in the playoffs against front line pitching. Once again they failed to address their number one need, a solid starter to compliment Kershaw.
What the hell has gotten into Hyun-Jin Ryu? Saw him pitch last night, rare because the Dodgers are blocked on Direct TV. His control is excellent. Worried that it will discourage the front office from pursuing another quality starter down the stretch. Not yet convinced the Dodgers have the pitching to beat one of those AL East teams, but hope I am wrong.

Obviously you’re being nonsensical so I will relate to you in your own way.

Braves Max Fried is a Jewish southpaw from LA who wore Koufax number in HS.

Tablet - BRAVES vs CARDINALS [BATTER PROPS] Run Line BRAVES +2.5 +140

    Mazel Tov. You’ll need it

    Edit:
My bad. I just assumed you would figure Braves win 4-3 vs a bullpen that included 105mph Hicks & Andrew Miller.

Suffice it too say, Cardinals bullpen is better than Dodgers. We will revisit that theme in the playoffs. We always do.

Braves do make some dumb mistakes that 22yr olds are prone to do. Baserunning tonight.

Rather watch a hugely talented kid than some middle aged retread. I can look in the mirror any time for that

I've been bad luck for my team this year. Twins have won 11 of their last 12 games. The 1 loss? I was there at the park last Sunday in Seattle when they lost to the Mariners.

I've been able to catch maybe 8 or 9 games on tv so far. They're like.500 in those games lol. 1 game I watched Astudillo strike out (never happens) and Taylor Rogers was approaching a team record for consecutive appearances without a run allowed and promptly allowed a run.

But yeah this is a fun start overall. This team has crazy positional player depth, with a few guys who can play everywhere defensively. I still think the pitching will regress soon, and the depth there is....not ideal...if/when injuries happen.

Ryu has been gold both last year and this one, but he's a constant injury threat.

That's why you can't count on him as your ace for the postseason.

Not sure how he suddenly got so good at this point in his career.

Good to see that Max Muncy might actually be real, and not just a 2018 fluke.

    Let's see here...

    In 2019, Bellinger is hitting .383, has 19 HR, 7 stolen bases, a .469 OBP, and a 1.230 OPS.

And he's shown an excellent defense range in OF.

And he has a great arm.

Is there anything he can't do in 2019?

Honestly this is the best 2 months I've seen from a Dodgers position player in my lifetime.

Dodgers now 8 games up in 1st place.

Oh and Joe Kelly gave up another 2 runs today without recording an out.

Interesting how Kelly and Pollock, the Dodgers' only consequential acquisitions this offseason, have been a gigantic fail, yet the team is winning so much. Much of this is thanks to Bellinger, Ryu Verdugo, and Joc Pederson playing way above expectation.

Boy does this front office run well. They have sucked so badly at free agents, yet somehow they keep winning.

Jayjami: Joe Kelly is just awful. Should have been 3 runs, but for Bellinger’s great throw to 3rd.

I know that baseball can be a complete crap-shoot but the NL is SIGNIFICANTLY better this season than the AL. I wonder what the true odds of the NL winning the WS are this season?

    Dear bigdick,

I heard the news about the Kimbral signing. It’s time I told you about the facts of life.

It’s just money. Zobrist and his nut job wife just freed up a lot of money. Kimbral ain’t worth it. Every other team agreed but you’re rolling in it and it’s kinda now or never in the Cubs arc.

If you want to see lights out stuff go watch some Kerry Wood on YouTube. Be prepared form 11 pitch at bats from Kimbral. He doesn’t have the put away pitch he once did.

It’s not good. It’s not bad. He will help but he’s not your savior.

    It’s fine. Just repeat, “2016 vs 1988”.
