At least they can take pleasure in the Yankees' misfortunes.

With Judge likely going to the DL, the following starting position players are now there:

    Sanchez
    Gregorius
    Stanton
    Judge
    Andujar
    Hicks
    Tulowitzki

    Wow.

Plus Severno and Montgomery out on the pitching side.

Then they're also missing Bird and Ellsbury.

This leaves just LeMahieu and 7 dwarves in the starting lineup.

The aura was still there despite the starters actually being in the hospital. Thus, your 3 unders were indeed brilliant.

    Has to be said.

Look at odds to win World Series - has hardly budged since opening day.

    people really are that daft

This is true in every category and by every measure.

Dodgers didn't sign Seager or Turner as free agents this year, though.

Turner is "only" making $16m and his contract isn't long.

    Seager is still cheap.

Both are still getting back into the swing of things after their injuries. Neither hits particularly well when not 100%.

Dodgers offense far better than the Padres and every other team in the NL.

    Bellinger continues to kick ass.

Dodgers have stung Hader twice in three games with the game-winning longball.

Bellinger and Yelich in quite a race for the MVP so far.

Kershaw looks pretty good so far.

Remember the shock and pity you held for Albies’ contract? The kid who suffered the catastrophic elbow injury swinging a bat? Still has a screw in the elbow. He will never know if the next swing or throw will be his last.

That’s sort of what I’m thinking when I watch Kershaw. It’s important he hangs in there though legacy-wise.

Scherzer and Kershaw. What do they have? 3 Cy Young’s each. The article pointed out Scherzer is seven wins and 203 strikeouts ahead of Kershaw.

Kershaw may get 10 wins this year even though he’s off to a slow start. $3.1m/win.

    We will see

It's actually frustrating to watch as a Dodgers fan. Why wouldn't this malaise start during the World Series?
Because Sale, Evoldi and Price have a ring now and management knows they didn’t need to spend $$ on a bullpen this year because they fresh off a ring. This is what the Sox do.

Bryce Harper already running into issues in Philly.

Got ejected for arguing a strike call, and now Jake Arrieta (losing pitcher) trashes him:

This was one concern about Bryce. He never really grew up, and has been known to rub teammates the wrong way.

It was rumored Jays super-prospect Vlad Guerrero Jr was going to debut today

His start is being scratched in deference to the Maple Leafs last game of the year.

I rarely fall victim to prospect hype but I can’t wait. Kid is a freak. Looks like it will be within the next week.

It’s great that teams are fucking around less and less with the service time thing - Padres Uber SS Tatis is an example.

Machado is a mental defective but it is fun watching these two guys with so much ability screw around like Beltre & Andrus used to.

    Sorry Simp

    I was just thinking

Boston has no shortage of feel-good sports stories and parades. We don’t even pay attention to college sports much less AA teams in bum-fuck New Hampshire. The plate is full.

Looking back, it was profound that some prospect on another organization’s minor league team would constantly be in the news and profiled on Boston television.

    Vlad is coming

Loved Vlad Sr. Never saw a pitch he didn’t like. He wouldn’t even be allowed in the box in this modern day of sabermetrics.

well Druff, you did it again: talk up the Dodgers thereby putting them into a losing streak--this time two lost to the Cubs

now please, speak shit the Dodgers now and then hold thy peace

yes everyone would have looked past a top prospect hitting 360 at AA while walking more than he stuck out

Dave Roberts' obsession (or perhaps Andrew Friedman's obsession) with the lefty-righty matchups is infuriating sometimes.

I've always been a believer that you don't bench the hot hitter, regardless of the throwing hand of the opposing starting pitcher.

Tonight, BOTH Joc Pederson (10 HR, 1.082 OPS) and Alex Verdugo (.346 BA, 1.035 OPS) were sat, in favor of Chris Taylor (.161 BA, .504 OPS).

If any outfielder needed to sit, it was AJ Pollock, who was batting .190 in the past 3 weeks.

In addition, David Freese, who seemingly bats 1.000 off the bench and .000 as a starter, was put at 1B instead of Max Muncy. Freese was also batted 3rd or 4th (I forget which), and once again went 0-fer.

In addition, Cody Bellinger, the one guy who has outhit Christian Yelich this season, was placed in the 6 hole. He's hitting .418, 11 HR, is even walking and rarely striking out, and he's 6th?

Why? Because a lefty is on the mound?

Bellinger went 2-for-3 with a HR, by the way. And walked.

To put the cherry on top, they put in Joe Kelly when down 3, who gave up a run. Dodgers plated 3 on a Verdugo HR (who came in as a pinch hitter), and that run given up by Kelly ended up being the difference. Kelly had a 9.90 ERA coming into this game. Maybe just use him for trash time at this point, until he gets right?

    Such a tilting game.

    Congrats, big dick.

That is a good example of analytics out-of-control.

I don't care if its Freese's mother pitching, and just wanting to have her son hit a home run. Bellinger hits in the top 3 in that lineup right now, Freese somewhere between 6-8.

It's commonly believed that Roberts has been neutered by Friedman, and is required to basically do what upper management says.

It's a sad situation if true (and I believe it), because it takes away the manager's ability to feel out his players, play the hot hand, and sit the cold hand.

I have a feeling the same is responsible for running certain slumping relievers out there time after time in critical spots, taking dominating pitchers out of the game too early in the postseason, and even starting Fuck Yu in 2017 World Series Game 7 over Alex Wood or a short-rest Kershaw.

Bellinger is having one of the best first 4 weeks of the season anyone has ever had. Batting him 6th is criminal. Sitting two 1.000+ OPS outfielders in favor of two slumping outfielders is also inexcusable.
