Stunned disbelief. That game now seems very very important for more reasons than I probably understand right now.

    Long long summer?

Cubs have been shit in general so far. And that's not a good thing in a division with the Cardinals and Brewers this year.

If Darvish pitched well in 2017 World Series Game 7, he might be the Dodgers' problem instead.

I think that postseason permanently broke him.
tossed a good game today His 96th pitch was 99mph

Kershaw went 7 innings and gave up only 2 runs...and Baez pitched a no run 8th

but before you get to excited, keep in mind Angel Martinez was working home plate, the ump with one of the biggest strike zones in mlb
(long before there was a PFA i had my Grenade & Crossbones avatar at DD)

I'm still impressed with how good Freese is when it matters.

Whenever I'm thinking, "This guy really needs to get on base here" or "This guy really needs a hit here", he does it.

And he's about to turn 36. He was one of the few Dodgers to hit well in the World Series, too.

The only thing that sucks about him is that he's very slow on the basepaths.

Great pickup and re-signing, though. Really useful to have a guy like that around.

Even his walk last night was clutch, as he took some excellent pitches which totally appeared to be strikes until the last second.

Many were excited about Kershaw's relatively good outing (minus the Puig HR), but it was against the Reds, who have been pretty bad thus far.

More importantly, though, Bellinger was nailed in the knee by a pitch.

Nothing was broken, but it clearly hurt a lot, and he will miss a few games. This might end up derailing his super hot hitting, which would be sad. He hit well just about every single game so far, and something like this can screw it all up.

Haven’t been able to scratch that itch down under Druff?

    Here’s your free pick:

    Astros/A’s under 9 -119

Two tremendous pitchers in the marine air.

This is going to come as a surprise to you Druff. It’s gonna be like the first time you heard your father cuss. So brace yourself

I didn’t fully understand who the Dodgers were last night.

I’m seeing two mid market teams by 25 man payroll - battle each other and I’m getting to bet a home dog, Brewers. Urias is a favorite? Multiple units baby

    $110,198,628 Brewers
    $109,758,862 Dodgers

    185,412,146 World Champion Red Sox.

Similar records but Brewers have a tougher strength of schedule (big surprise). These two teams are very very similar in style and ability. I am long the Brewers for season.

Urias was pitching a no-hitter into the 5th inning. He was pitching strikes like he just didn’t care. Fearless and brave. That’s NEVER Urias. Typically, Urias got lit up by the very same Brewers 5 days previous. His trademark is fucking around the edges and losing control. So much god given ability and he sucked.

Then I read he is getting shipped to the bullpen. Wow. Now I get it. He was going to the bullpen even if he pitched a perfect game.

    Jesus buddy

He pitched like he didn’t care cause he didn’t. Not about performing as a starter anyway. I wonder if he has the make up to relieve. He is a headcase. He’s also a kid in a bad organization for development. Who knows.

Urias, Stripling, Maeda last year. Why? Cause Hill & Kershaw are hurt? This you can’t predict and plan for? Those two have a wing named after them at the local hospital. With so many elite closers and starters available?

What are the Dodgers doing? Why is their active payroll similar to the Minnesota Twins?

You once said you are happiest with a team that is just good enough to make the playoffs every year. You don’t want to be a champion one year and pay the price later. I think you speak for LA and the Dodgers are listening.

I actually think the Guggenheim story is close to dropping. Much like the 2007 crash revealed Madoff’s Ponzi and bankrupt the Mets - the same is very apt to happen to the insurance trust.

    Brace yourself.

Was listening to Baseball Tonight Podcast during which Buster Olney & company were speculating if the Red Sox would trade Mookie Betts if it appears they have slipped too far.

Here’s the best part. Never Yankees. Cubs 1st option & Braves 2nd. Braves a distant 2nd as they are pretty firm with salary limit.

Sawks are horrendous. That jewelry amirite?

So far, the two big NL acquisitions -- Manny Machokedo and Bryce Harper -- have been underwhelming.

The two big NL stories so far are Christian Yelich (again) and Cody Bellinger.

Manny and Bryce being left in the dust.

Speaking of Manny, Padres can't hit. They only have 71 runs scored in 21 games. Amazingly, the Pirates only have 63 in 17 games, yet are 11-6. Padres are 11-10, but only thanks to their good pitching.

The second and third best pitching teams in the NL so far? The Reds and Giants, both of whom are well under .500 due to their dreadful offense.

    Here's something really weird.

The Dodgers have played 22 games. In that time, they have a six-game winning streak, a five-game winning streak, and a six-game losing streak.

You'll never see three streaks like this again in the first 22 games.

Joe Kelly has an ERA of 9.90 so far, btw. Good job.

Sanlmar, the Dodgers have done three things right under the Friedman era:

    1) Avoided signing crippling bad long deals with overrated or declining players. Some of it was luck in being outbid, but some of it was also knowing when to back off.

    2) Avoided trading away prospects who are a hair away from making the majors and becoming impactful. Think if they traded Bellinger a few years ago for a rent-a-player.

    3) Managed to grab some surprising players who seemed to be worthless prior to becoming Dodgers.

What they've done wrong has been their mid-level free agent signings. A high percentage of those turned out to be fails (aside from the re-signing of existing Dodgers). Joe Kelly is the latest example of this.

I'll tell you what they need to do at this point: Sign Dallas Keuchel for one year.

This is a risk a big market team can take.

The starting pitching needs help. Just plunk down $20m (maybe a bit less because the season is a few weeks in already), get Keuchel for a year, and if he turns out to be a fail, then so be it. But that's the type of thing they need to do.

I'm not so bothered when they pass on the 8-year-deal type of free agent. Those can turn into disaster.

Oh, and I'm still pissed they didn't get Verander and Hamels, when both wanted to come to the Dodgers.

BTW, Alex Verdugo might be 2019's "surprise" player on the Dodgers.

    He's doing great so far.

Up until this year he looked kinda lost at the major league level, but this year he really looks in control.

Bellinger is already being walked in spots where they don't normally walk players. Teams are starting to buy into the belief that he's for real.

I suspected as much before the season started but it’s time consider this is going to be a long year for the Red Sox.

They won’t be 15 Under .500 bad but last year was positive EV

It's actually frustrating to watch as a Dodgers fan. Why wouldn't this malaise start during the World Series?
