Here is a fun party game

Dombrowski will be replaced by assistant GM Eddie Romero after failing to improve the team, particularly the bullpen in the offseason. Boston did not re-sign closer Craig Kimbrel and the unit has been a sore spot this season.

Dodgers have a better bullpen than every likely NL playoff team.

Seriously. Bullpen is a disaster all around on good NL teams.

last night was a "Hangover Game" -- the one played after clinching a division title...usually teams lose that one; Dodgers are 1-4 in those games going back to 2013
    https://www.truebluela.com/2019/9/11...division-title

so discount last night's result please

if you watched the game, you noticed the Dodgers were swinging early in the count rather than taking/grinding out at bats as they do normally---it was if they wanted to get done early

they wont make it to the world series if they have to face the nats
the nats can def beat the dodgers in a 5 or 7 game series

They were also missing Turner and Muncy, which isn't exactly trivial.

Washington is going to be the toughest NL playoffs opponent the Dodgers could face. I hope they don't get there.

    They started 19-30. Since then, they're 61-34.

    Plus Scherzer/Strasburg/Corbin.

Hopefully they just lose the wildcard game.

would be worth it for them to beat the cubs in the WC game so that they can knock the dodgers out.

cubs have no heart anyway they don't deserve the playoffs. that pen is the worst pen in the history on baseball
the offense scores 10 one day and then gets shut out the next

Lester is finished he is a good number 5 at this point

idgaf who wins the world series as long as it isnt the dodgers or cards

Yankees have the best record in baseball and have very little shot at taking it down either, bigdick.

    Not to worry.

The casual fan will be surprised by Washington. Sometimes you wonder if Atlanta will end up with best record in the NL.

You and I never had no beef.

Be careful with your tone regarding Lester. He was a clutch big game warrior. 3 rings.

Kershaw would kill for just one.

Lester had a great career. Even Lester can’t beat Father Time.

Lester was a great pitcher and clutch as fuck but he doesn't have it anymore. Just a fact, sadly.

Very very tight NL 2nd wildcard race.

    Cubs, Brewers, Phllies, Mets.

I still think it will be the Cubs. All four of these teams are flawed.

Haven't loved how the Dodgers have played recently, but they have still won 3 of their last 4, and they were without Turner and Muncy. But the team does have a lot of vulnerabilities:

    - 2nd half Bellinger isn't first half Bellinger

    - Will Smith has hit a horrendous slump, and no other catcher on the team can hit, either

    - Turner is injured, and he has a history of not hitting well for awhile after coming off an injury

    - Kershaw is no longer a dominant pitcher, and gives up a lot of HR

    - Ryu is totally out of gas

    - Buelher seems prone to terrible games every so often

    - Jansen of 2019 isn't the same pitcher as Jansen for the past several years

Age and the long MLB season has ground the Dodgers down some.

But they're still the clinched NL West champs again. The Cubs, on the other hand, might be missing the playoffs entirely.

Every Dodger fan is thinking the same thing: it’s a championship or the season is a total failure. It’s been 30 years! I would trade missing the playoffs this year for the Cubs’ 2016 championship in a second.

I have been waiting for the hopelessness that was once the domain of the Red Sox & Cubs to set in. LA is laid back and not really a sports town so it’s slow to arrive.

I saw this a while ago .... kinda the definitive take

The Dodgers become only the third team to win seven or more consecutive division titles.

Only the Atlanta Braves from 1991 to 2005 and New York Yankees from 1998 to 2006 have won more.

Those Yankees clubs won three World Series championships and are remembered as one of the greatest teams ever.

The Braves won only once and are considered historic underachievers, such is the importance of that final hurdle.
It’s not likely they will win this year. Even if they do, they won’t be remembered in any greater esteem than the Braves.

However, I will leave you to assign the Dodgers legacy yourself.

The Dodgers have a long future ahead of them, though. Most of this existing team is young. Kershaw isn't, Ryu isn't, Turner isn't, and Jansen isn't. The rest of the players, however, have a lot of great years ahead of them.

These Dodgers aren't the late 2000s Phillies.

of course they are not the phillies the phillies actually won a ws.
Don't compare this team to a team that got the job done
now if they do win a world series(like my cubs did) then you can't start comparing but until then .... they are just a team who beat up a soft division for years and got smoked by the real team once playoff time rolled around
