    Here's the story
    Of a guy named Kenley
He used to catch but now he closes games
    He was really great
    For several years
But now his skills are lame

    Here's the story
    Of a guy named Russell
A former pitcher whose career it was to catch
    He got lots of bucks
    From Toronto
But it was not a match

Til the one day when the Kenley met this Russell
Switching roles they could really pack a punch
    Now Russell closes
    And Kenley catches
That's the way they both became The Kenley Bunch

    The Kenley Bunch
    The Kenley Bunch
That's the way we end the 9th with The Kenley Bunch

Literally nothing was on TV last night, so I watched the last few innings of the Astros/Rays game while I cooked dinner. The Astros just destroyed the Rays’ bullpen. Not a good omen for our Dodgers. Right now if Jansen even gets some save opportunities in the WS, I’ll be happy.

It’s the same old story with the Dodgers bullpen. Gosh, Kenley Jansen looking sketchy? They couldn’t see that coming?

Heart surgery, older, questionable performance last year?

Nah, we will win the division anyway and that’s good enough.

That’s old news. What interests me more is Will Smith. He’s the reason the Dodgers had a shot to win in extra innings.

What interests me is the notion of a rookie catcher running a pitching staff in the playoffs. A rookie catcher quarterbacking one of the 10 worst defenses in the MLB

It’s a bold play that likely won’t work but things usually don’t work out for Dodgers anyway. Maybe next year.

Phillies fans boo their own player, Sean Rodriguez. They cheer when he gets hit by pitch. Priceless. A no tolerance policy by the fans.

Druff will never know passionate fans.

The idiot fans in Oakland beating those stupid drums in that empty dump. You can’t even watch the game on tv with the sound on. The organist in Dodgers stadium. Both so lame and annoying.

    How does MLB tolerate this?

    lol wow would be proud

    Dodgers up by 20 games.

Hmm, let’s play our starters every damn day. We have the unusual advantage of being able to lose and rest players.

Dodgers have no bench cause we have all the bodies in the pen. Like everyone else, I might add.

Dodgers thought to have advanced analytics or whatever. Not really. Very standard approach

Druff mentioned Verlander regret. The Astros are better tooling up the pitching staff. Verlander likely would not be today’s Verlander in a Dodger uniform.

What a time we live in.
I'm guessing the NBA hasn't had to do this.

Don't look now, but Joe Kelly is the Dodgers' best reliever.

Zero runs allowed for a ton of games in a row, and hardly anyone is getting on base against him.

I realize he's Joe Kelly and is prone to a return to terribleness at any point, but maybe he can at least hold this way through the postseason.

The Dodgers organ is a tradition which goes back to the stadium opening in the 60s. It's not annoying at all.

If you want annoying, it's that idiotic train in Houston.

Yeah, you gotta respect whatever the Dodgers did with Kelly. You know there was an individual who lobbied for this. Some scout or wonk. Give him a medal. Wanna know the story.

It defies my understanding except that he’s pitching to the little sisters of the poor in the NL

He will be tested for real soon enough

worst defense? what do you have to support that claim...because according to the link/source I provided, they are the best

but if you mean fielding, well per fangraphs.com stats they are average (17th out of 30)

Yeah, I addressed pitching then defense.

If they are 17th that feels high but ok

The Jekyll & Hyde adventures of Walker Buehler have been renewed for the fall season.

Little Leaguer or All Star? You never know and neither does he.

I think he's starting to wear down, as is Ryu, as is Jansen.

I think the Dodgers should have probably taken a page out of the Kawhi Leonard playbook and did more resting of their stars, but that's not fashionable to do yet in MLB.

Craig Kimbrel to the disabled list, with right elbow inflammation.

He has a 5.68 ERA with the Cubs.

This might be a $43 million disaster.

Another problem is the fact that none of the current starting rotation will be under 30 next year, and all of them are pitchers whose best years are considered behind them.

Reds relief pitcher Michael Lorenzen has come out of nowhere to become a part-time pinch hitter and position player.

He ended up with the game-winning HR earlier this week, and today had a walkoff double. He also started a game as an outfielder.

When was the last time a relief pitcher successfully converted to become a part-time offensive player?

Converting the other way is more common, though it tends to happen at the minor league level.

Kenley Jansen was a catcher who had a great arm but couldn't hit well. They suggested he convert to pitching, and that worked out. Well, at least until this year.

Having 17 players spitting seeds in the bullpen and one bench player has created a value for guys who don’t care about recovery or length of career.
