With regards to the best burger joint

At the risk of sounding like I've sold out, here is my opinion of the *burgers only* mentioned here so far:

1.) In-N-Out (TIE)
1.) Five Guys (TIE)
3.) Fuddruckers
4.) Burger King
5.) Steak and Shake (but killer fat I remember reading...like trans fats galore, the highest of any chain)
6.) Carl's Jr.
7.) Mcdonald's
NA) Fatburger, Baron Burger, Tommy's, Whataburger, Regina Hotel Guinness Burger (not tested)

Fire Away, I know that list won't please anyone but myself.

And Druff, you've mentioned The Habit before...is that place any good? I was in Santa Barbara once but no one else in my party was hungry...

I think you can eat fast food burgers in moderation and be a rack. Avoid the fries / sugary soft drinks.

Best chain fast food burgers are either In-N-Out or Tommy's (at least in the western US).

Carl's Jr. isn't anywhere near the top. Sorry, Les.

BTW, Tommy's chili looks super gross (surprised I even tried it), but boy does it taste good.

If driving between LA and Vegas, there is a Tommy's in Barstow, off Lenwood Rd from the 15.

McDonald's somehow still has the best fries.

Carls Jr is set up for single guys...no kids meals, no playground, no clowns or kings so there are no mom's in line ahead of you special ordering or asking questions about every ingredient in a burger...it's quick service and the food is guy style (big burgers with bacon/cheese/BBQ sauce and charcoal broiler cooked).

I like both, and they are superior to any other fast food fry. McDonald's fries were even better when they had beef tallow in the fry oil. Bring it back, I say.
