I feel every time I bet a game based off of off-field drama, the team that is supposed to suck because of the drama ends up covering/winning. I think we tend to overestimate how much that shit matters once the whistle blows.
The line would have long ago shifted if this was a major concern. Laying 13 points on the road first game of the season is just brutal to predict.
I am done betting on Tennessee, Texas, Notre Dame and Nebraska over the last 5 years. Every year I read an article about them getting back to being a top shelf program, I get sucked into the hype, every year I lose money on them. Not some of the time, all of the time.
You are correct, on the surface it seems like a good value bet, but Longhorn recent history says this will be a 31-28 game.
I want to see what Texas brings to the table before I put money on them.
I think they will be good this year but that’s more of a hunch.
