Las Vegas Sportsbook operator CG Technology fined $250,000 for "accepting out of state bets" and other violations

CARSON CITY, Nev. — A company that operates race and sports books in eight Las Vegas casinos is being fined $250,000
by the Nevada regulators for illegally accepting out of state bets, taking wagers after the contest was completed and underpaying or overpaying players.

CG Technology Holding last week signed a stipulation with the Nevada Gaming Control Board it also will discontinue its use of a sports pool computer system.

This is the third time the company has been fined for violations. It paid a $22.5 million fine to the U.S. government in October 2016 with the state receiving $700,000 of the amount. The state also imposed a $1.5 million penalty in 2006 for gaming violations.

William Hill buys out CG Technology:

William Hill is poised to acquire the assets of CG Technology (formerly Cantor Gaming) in both Nevada and The Bahamas. News of the takeover came in the form of a tidy press release that hit the wire after close of business Wednesday.

It’s another case of the shark swallowing the minnow, though CG has made the most of its relatively small footprint.

The company’s portfolio includes a total of seven Nevada sportsbooks, concentrated around a few of the finest properties on The Strip. Its other, one-off operation at Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island is also part of the sale.

This deal removes a competitor from the market and brings the William Hill brand to some of the city’s shiniest casino gems:

    The Cosmopolitan
    The Palazzo
    Palms
    Silverton
    Tropicana
    The Venetian
