    The Podcast Thread

I spend well over 15 hours a week listening to podcasts. Cooking, cleaning, commuting, going for a walk or trying to fall asleep - podcasts make it better. Always looking for a good podcast to add to my list. Here's my current lineup:

Stay Tuned with Preet - Weekly. Amazing podcast hosted by Preet Bahara, former lead prosecutor for Southern District of NY (he is responsible for Black Friday and taking down The Silk Road). Very good at explaining whats going on in the world without much bias. There are two episodes with Bill Browder as a guest that I highly recommend everyone listen to. Currently this is the podcast I look forward to the most.

The NYTimes Daily - 5-6 ~30 min episodes a week. I listen to maybe 30% of the episodes.

Gambling with an Edge - Weekly. Hosted by one of the best video poker players and one of the best BJ/general AP players in the world. I usually skip any episode with a poker related guest. Bob Nersesian and Michael Shackleford are regular guests and make for by far the best episodes. (Michael Shackleford used to host the show back when it was an AM Radio show)

Coding Blocks - ~Weekly 2 hour episodes. Pretty technical, geared towards software developers.

Art of Product - Weekly. Not too technical. Focus on building SAS companies.

React Roundup, Javascript Jabber, Ruby Rogues - All weekly, pretty technical geared towards web developers.

Harmontown - weekly, Dan Harmon (co-creator of Rick and Morty) basically getting drunk and fucking around usually on stage in front of a live audience.

Stuff You Should Know - A few episodes a week (they've been doing it for over 10 years though and often just repost old episodes) Each episode focuses on a single specific topic, I listen to about half of them. Exampls: 'How miranda rights work', 'Disappearance of the Yuba County Five', 'How the Standford Prison Experiment worked', 'How Ponzi Schemes Work'

    TwoPlusTwo Pokercast - RIP

Poker Fraud Alert - Druff & Friends - Weekly and crazy long. The host produces the show during the show and doesn't seem to have many friends. I've listened to and enjoyed every episode but have only ever recommended it to a few special people. There are time stamps though!

OK if you're into funny the reincarnation of Dave's of Thunder is the nuts.
You'll know Dave Damesheck via Carolla. Well, he and a friend, Dave Feeny, a hollywood writer funny man put out a podcast
6 or seven years ago and it was a smash. Too good for some, better than Carolla, and it was withdrawn.
It's back and funny as ever but to prove a point, funny man Feeny wrote a letter to the Pittsburgh Pirates organization claiming the team name is racist blah, blah, blah.

On it's own it is hilarious and I will either transcribe it or post it via mp3 if possible. Mp3 will be best because it's in the voice of Feeny, the lunatic fan.
What happens next is just more fun. The team writes back and so does Feeny

This is a snippet of the fun these guys have at drilling each other.

I will state it's easily the funniest podcast I've ever heard week in and out.

    bump

here it is. the audio of a prank letter to the Pittsburgh Pirates by one David Feeny, a Hollywood writer who
co-hosts Dave's of Thunder podcast with Dave Dameshek(Carolla, NFL)

It's the funniest podcast I've ever heard. This bit is explained above but basically Feeny, the writer was bored so he wrote the Pittsburgh Pirates asking them to change their racist name and the hilarity ensues.
Dameshek is the one laughing his guts out as he listens to the letters and the responses to them.
    Priceless

A letter to the Piitsburgh Pirates.
The following is a practical joke inspired by one Dave Feeny, a hollywood comedic writer.
He was bored and wrote the Pirates asking them to change their name in this era of
political correctness. It's hilarious cause the Pirates chose to respond

This podcast is by far the most interesting of all podcasts. It began before podcasts were a thing. It's a CBC production called "Under the influence" with the Terry O'Reilly. Under the influence meant advertising ruled and still does

The theme is marketing/advertising which seems boring but the most amazing stories come from it.

    Podcasts I listen to regularly:

The Rewatchables--Bill Simmons and Co. talk about classic movies that are worth re-watching.

    WTF with Marc Maron--good guests

Talking Sopranos--Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa talk about a Sopranos episode and interview key players and shoot the shit.

Uncle Joey's Joint--Comedian Joey Diaz. Funny guy.

Fame is a Bitch--AJ Benza. Mostly gossip. Not sure how much effort he puts into research.

    Under the Gun-- David Tuchman.

The Rialto Report--Well researched about stars of the porn industry in the 70s and 80s.

Our Thing--Sammy the Bull's podcast. Very interesting show. Hasn't updated lately.

Sunday Papers--Greg Fitzsimmons and another guy go through the Sunday papers.

Adam Carolla--Still listen, especially since he still has a daily news segment (and Stern doesn't)

    Joe Rogan--

    Poker Fraud Alert (of course)--
