That video looks like it was taken at IMS.

Instead of blaming the NFL for a slump in sales how about blaming the fact that you charge too much for a mediocre pizza.

If everyone lost their job for saying the word n-word, I think everyone would be unemployed.

Gotta admit I went to Papa Johns a lot in the 2000s. As far as chain pizza places go, they're the best one... or at least they were back then. Haven't had it in like 10 years.

But they were really close to where my then-girlfriend lived, so I picked up pizzas there a lot.

They had a yuuuuuuuuuuuuge difference in price between delivery and carryout. Like, the same pizza you could get for $7.99 carryout would be $16.99 for delivery, and then after the tip it would cost you $20. So obviously I picked it up all the time.

Surprised it took Papa John himself this long to be forced out, because the guy basically is kind of an asshole and can't keep his big mouth shut.

They are the best of the big national chains I agree. I like the slight seeetness of their crust and the fact they give you a couple hot peppers. They still charge too much which IMO is why they are being aggressively undercut by inferior products like Little Caesar's.

Dominos Pizza is the most successful big cap stock the last 10 years in terms of gains, even higher gains than Apple and Priceline. I remember when people used to make fun of Dominos Pizza, not so much now.

Papa johns is worth $1.7 BILLION dollars

He’s got “FUCK YOU” money for life. Gave Peyton Manning 10 franchises in Denver just to hang out with him and be freinds.

Papa Johns has big time quality control issues. They're really all over the place. I've had some good experiences, but after a few horrible experiences I've sworn them off.

    Actually true.

I went to one in another state and it was horrible.

If the parent company doesn't ride herd on the franchisees, then this happens.

In 1997 I was working for Pizza Hut. Papa Johns was at the time just a regional chain but was aggressively expanding nationwide. Their marketing strategy was basically to attack Pizza Hut. They used their slogan “better ingredients Better pizza” and claimed that they used higher quality ingredients than Pizza Hut. They even ran a commercial featuring Frank Carney who was the founder of Pizza Hut. Frank sold Pizza Hut to Pepsi in the ‘70s and was contractually not allowed back into the industry for 25 years. He came back to the industry by being a large Papa John’s franchisee. The commercial featured him supposedly addressing a crowd at a Pizza Hut convention and resigning from the company because he found a better pizza.

Pizza Hut filed a lawsuit claiming false advertising and won. The initial judgement prohibited Papa John’s from ever using their slogan again. It would have required them to change all their signage, car toppers, menus, etc,,, costing millions of dollars to comply. They appealed and the appeal court ruled that they could continue to use the slogan but only in a declarative manner. They were prohibited from using it to compare themselves to Pizza Hut.

The relationship between the two companies was so contentious that at the time Pizza Hut’s Corporate jet had Papa John’s logo affixed to its toilet bowl.

I was part of a group that got to accompany the VP of Pizza Hut on a tour of stores in Southern California. One of the first Papa John’s in the state had just opened and he wanted to see it. Twelve of us dressed in shirt and ties emblazoned with the Pizza Hut logo walked in. He asked to speak to the person in charge, then introduced himself, congratulated him on their nice new store and said we would be back in six months to steal their best employees, turned and walked out.

I didn't fall for any of that "Better Ingredients, Better Pizza" marketing crap.

I just felt that, of the major chains, Papa Johns was by far the best, at least in the 2000s.

If you did their carryout special, it was also quite cheap. Often I got large pepperonis carryout for $6.99 or $7.99. No chance I would have paid standard menu prices for the same pizza, which was about double.

I much prefer good mom-and-pop pizza places, but in some areas those are hard to come by.

Mom and Pops are typically way better for sure. They may charge you a few dollars more a pizza but it's going to taste better compared to the four major chains Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, Little Caesars, and Dominos. The other option is area/state franchise chains that have maybe 5 to 25 locations within a state or few states. Some of those can be good but it really depends.

Papa Johns might throw in a garlic butter cup but their pizza to me is worse than the other 3 major chains which is hard to say considering Little Caesars is very low budget.

Never pay regular prices for the major chain pizza spots because you can probably google a coupon if you really are intending to go there otherwise based off regular prices you should be able to find a mom pop location that is cheaper with a better quality product.

You would be mad Druff hearing this but one of my local chains I'll get these $5.99 large one topper deals regularly if you order online so I will do that and if I get there early waiting for my pizza to be done I will see at least 3 or 4 people walk in ordering right there paying nearly double the price. I can hear them because it's 10 feet away and it even pains me to see this but I'm sure if you saw what I'm saying it would bring pain to you even more.

It's not fair to the restaurant for me to say to someone doing this hey ask for specials or check online. These people need to learn how to find the deal otherwise if they are willing to pay full price I actually will side with the restaurant and won't educate them. It's a little different tome then walking up to someone in a casino and saying don't play that machine it pays shitty play this instead.

Gotta feel bad for all the racists out there who now have to eat Papa Johns as a form of counter protest.

When I first moved to Florida I signed a 7 month lease in a townhouse community while we got the lay of the land in Palm Beach County and started to hunt for a short sale. This community had a deal with the local Papa Johns. Every Thursday a Papa Johns truck would show up about 5:45 carrying 50 cooked pizzas. It was cash only - $5 and you got a choice of pepperoni or cheese while supplies lasted.

The first week I was absolutely thrilled at this concept. $5 cash and I didn’t have to cook one night a week. Strutted my ass up there and got one. Not good. Figured we would give it a shot the following week. Awful. Got one half a slice in and tossed it. Never had a Papa Johns pizza since.

I’m willing to believe it may have had to do with the remote local that factored into the level of quality. It was so bad I’m not in any rush to give them a try again and it’s been 6 years.
