Silicon Valley = the Soviet Union

    • waiting years to receive a car you ordered, to find that it's of poor workmanship and quality
    • promises of colonizing the solar system while you toil in drudgery day in, day out
    • living five adults to a two room apartment
    • being told you are constructing utopia while the system crumbles around you
    • 'totally not illegal taxi' taxis by private citizens moonlighting to make ends meet
    • everything slaved to the needs of the military-industrial complex
    • mandatory workplace political education
    • productivity largely falsified to satisfy appearance of sponsoring elites
    • deviation from mainstream narrative carries heavy social and political consequences
    • networked computers exist but they're really bad
    • Henry Kissinger visits sometimes for some reason
    • elite power struggles result in massive collateral damage, sometimes purges
    • failures are bizarrely upheld as triumphs
    • otherwise extremely intelligent people just turning the crank because it's the only way to get ahead
    • the plight of the working class is discussed mainly by people who do no work
    • the United States as a whole is depicted as evil by default
    • the currency most people are talking about is fake and worthless
    • the economy is centrally planned, using opaque algorithms not fully understood by their users

Exaggerated but funny. I'd also say the opposite, they are the new robber barons. Maybe the same thing?

My cousin drove a taxi.. If anything is socialist its the scam of taxi companies and their claims of making a fair living while drivers have to work 18hrs a day to make a decent living while paying hundreds of dollars a week for the honor of driving a POS that likely isn't maintained properly.. At least with Uber and Lyft people know what their getting which is unlike most taxis somebody who fucking speaks English and doesn't reek of BO looking like Bin Ladens brother and a name you'd never be able to report because it has more syllables then the Middle Eastern Shit Hole they escaped from while having a mini flag of ISIS on their dash.

At least with UBER and LYFT likely your driver speaks English doesn't look or smell like some Middle Eastern Kumkwat who hasn't showered in weeks and likely knows where they are going and isn't being ripped off by the assholes they work for taking over half their earnings in "rental' fees so that the real one getting rich is Muhammad the taxi owner

Nah. Uber is probably better for passengers as long as they use a little discernment and take precautions. But no way it is better for the drivers. Taxi driver used to be a lower middle class career. You might have had to work hard, and you were definitely getting fucked by crooked taxi companies and local government, but at the end of the day you made enough to survive, and raise a family and all that jazz.

Uber/Lyft has never been and never will be that. That is why the dropout rate after a couple months is something ridiculous like 90%. The economics just don't work out in the long run. Of course now Uber has fucked everything up so noone can survive, but it is kind of the taxi industries own fault, for setting themselves up like they did, so they weren't competitive when a new paradigm came around.
