    Planning Vegas Trip

Hey guys. Planning a Vegas trip (didn't end up going last year), and wondering where to stay and the best deals. I'll be primarily there to vacation with my girlfriend but also to see the shows and play a little poker during the late nights when my girlfriend is asleep. I'm only looking to stay for 4 days.

I see that staying Monday-Thursday is the cheapest but was curious if Vegas is better on the weekends. Any advice, tips on where to stay and eat along with what shows to see would be greatly appreciated.

I can help with this. What kind of budget do you have? Also, it would help if you posted nudies of yer girlfriend so I can get a better idea of what type of casino hotel would be right for you.

    Hahaha. Sorry no pics.

I'm not a baller but I'd swing for something more expensive if it's worth it. Like I wouldn't do the Aria Sky Suites or anything but I'd stay at a 5 star like Paris.

    Any recommendations?

See what's available on discount hotel sites. There's only a few strip properties I really just would not stay at.

You said you'd be out while GF sleeps. Be sure to smash first. Vegas hotel sex is top top. Usually puts women in the mood too.

In my experience, the bolded part is very true.

Unless the woman is already from Vegas, in which case it usually puts them out of the mood, because they feel like a hooker.

Carrot Top is actually a good show. Went with low expectations and left after having enjoyed myself.

Hotels if you aren't a broke dick: Aria or Wynn.

Mid-Range hotel: Mandalay Bay or Mirage this time of year.

Steak: Jean Georges @ Aria; Prime @ Bellagio; Craft @ MGM; Strip Steak @ MB

View: House of Blues at dusk.

Shows: the cirque show @ MGM is good but MJ @ MB was fantastic.

Place to be see and be seen: Cosmo Chandelier bars or Vesper

Drinks: See above. Also great margaritas at Javier's @ Aria

Nightclubs: what a waste of space

Sushi/Jap food: Yellowtail is top, top.

Hopefully you don't need Vegas to make your chick horny. GL!

Vegas is better on the weekdays, unless you're looking to hit the club scene (which I'm guessing you're not, since you're there with a gf).

Less crowded, less expensive, less traffic, better service in restaurants, etc.

Aside from a ballgame, pretty much everything in life is better if you avoid the crowds.

Regarding "best deals", I get that question all the time, and my answer is, "You won't get a 'best deal' unless you're either a casino player or know someone who is and will get a room for you."

Otherwise, you're stuck using the hotel websites or something like Trivago to figure out where to stay and what has the best value for what you're looking for.

If you're going to book a Caesars property, there are a few tricks you can use to get a better deal (booking online):

    1) If it's during the WSOP, use code WSOP8 to get some additional money off your room, even if you're not playing any events.

    2) If it's not during WSOP, use code FLEXLV1 to get 5% off your room.

    3) If you have a friend who is Diamond or Seven Stars, you can avoid the resort fee by putting them on your room as an additional guest, and having them there when you check in. (If they're not in Vegas, or they refuse to come down to meet you at check-in, this won't work.) Have the friend tell the desk agent that he's Diamond/Seven Star, and have him give his Total Rewards card to prove it. You will be excused from the resort fee. If he's Diamond, though, you won't get free internet. If he's Seven Stars, you WILL get free internet, plus 1 free movie per day.

    4) If you have a friend who is Platinum or higher, have them mail you one of their Total Rewards cards, and you will be able to park for free. Otherwise, parking costs money which is tilting. Same thing will work at MGM properties if they're Pearl or higher.

BTW, the renovated Caesars properties are better than you'd expect, provided you get one of the renovated rooms. Flamingo and Harrah's, both of which had (deservedly) bad reputations for being run down, are actually decent if you stay in a renovated room. The LINQ hotel (formerly Imperial Palace) was also renovated, but I don't know anyone who personally stayed there, so I'm not sure about those.

Also be aware in Vegas that you will basically be treated like shit at most casino properties if you don't have a fairly high status with them. I've actually experienced this before where I'm mistakenly believed to have a low status, treated like crap, and then when they realize I have one of their upper-tier cards, suddenly they become super nice and cooperative.

Exhibit A for the difference between bottomset and a decent human being. Everyone knows what I said is true but bottomset can't resist acting like a complete tool.

For sushi the place in aria that's right betwee sage and Julian Serrano tapas is very good too. Can't recall the name. You can't go wrong with anywhere in the Aria actually. Julian Serrano is great tapas, sage great tasting menu.

One thing I haven't found on the strip is an oyster bar. I know many places serve oysters but they're all places you have to go get a table and order a whole meal. I want to sit at a bar with a drink, watch sports and order a few dozen oysters and some bread and that's it. If anyone knows of such a place on the strip please let me know.

Have stayed at Paris. It's a decent mid level hotel but nowhere near wynn, aria, Venetian.

Mon ami gabi inside Paris is good for breakfast. Sit outside on the patio and enjoy the view. The restaurant atop Rio is a cool place to go for a drink. Don’t know about the food but great 360 degree views of Vegas. Vic n Anthony’s in the Golden Nugget is a great old school steakhouse. For cheap entertainment there is a great lounge inside Paris. It’s a dueling piano bar. No cover. Saw a hypnotist show in Paris last time was only like $30. Pretty funny if you like raunchy humor.

If you’re a 420 type, buy some of Vegas1369s weed and then grab lunch at Cheba Hut.

Oh and use UBER to get around. Incredibly cheap and convenient. Had fascinating drivers last time I was there too including a former Russian Intelligence KGB officer

Oh as to Druffs point in getting good rates at Caesars properties. If you aren’t already hosted my buddy is basically a head hunter for Caesars. He can hook you up with rates better than anything you will find on your own. His hope is you’re a player and he will nake some money off your play. He’s happy to hook anyone up , however, because he figures once you know he can get you good rates you will refer others to him and eventually a player will fall into his lap.

The first year he hooked me up with $25 rooms at The Linq. I didn’t even gamble much as I was there for a convention but now I get inundated with free room offers year round. Send me a PM if anyone wants his contact info.

If you are on a budget, I highly recommend Treasure Island. Decent rooms and reasonable rates. And you can walk across the bridge to play poker at the Venetian while your girl is sleeping.

I don't think this has anything to do with your status. You are just a bad customer. You are an angle-shooter when it comes to customer service and that is why they treat you poorly. I don't have any upper-tier cards and never run into any problems. I am talking over 200+ trips to Vegas.

I think the closest you will find on the Strip is the pub at Aria/City Center -- which actually has some good beer and food. Forgot the name but it's next to the main check in at Aria.

There used to be an oyster place next to Joe's Stone Crab at the Forum shops, but it closed a few years ago.
