I thought the 15% thing would benefit me because I don't have a wild playstyle, and I tend to "get there" by playing small ball and trying to save the big pots for when I really have it good, rather than taking crazy chances. So that produced a lot of 10%-15% left finishes in prior years (especially in the Main), which kept barely leaving me out in the cold.
However, since they introduced the 15% thing, I've benefited from it only ONCE -- my second cash this year at the $1500 Big Blind Ante event. All other lifetime cashes have been 10% of the field or better, including the one today of course. My Omaha cash was top 6.5% of the field.
But yeah, I get your point. It does suck when you run deep and a lot of the money already got paid out. They used to start with basically doubling your buyin, and now it's about 1.5 times your buyin. So that kinda blows.
Haven't played much cash. Might try in the next few days when I have no tournaments.
In my experience, the high limit cash games suck at WSOP time.
Anyway, I failed in WSOP limit holdem today. As did Brandon and Eric Bensamochan.
tradershky and Jayjami were still in, last I checked.
113 degrees in Vegas tomorrow. Fun.
Cash during WSOP should be it's own topic.
Rio cash fucking BLOWS. Players are good, highly disorganized, no shufflers, no chiprunners ..... and if you are playing non holdem forgetit.
Aria/Wynn are both great rooms for cash.
Seems like all the small rooms are truly dead.

GL in the limit event guys
Went nowhere in the $1500 Limit Holdem.
Went out late Day 1, with about 55% of the field gone. Never managed to double my starting stack. Just wasn't happening for me yesterday.
Daly's comments about Rio cash sucking seems to be true. Tried one session of 75/150 O8 and almost all the players were really good. A few were okayish recs but no real fish, and lots of excellent players. As he said, no chip runners, plus the cashiers giving you chips are slooooooooooooooow.
I'm not playing any events until the $10k Limit Holdem on the 25th, though I will be paying the Mega to that same event the night before. Last year I got very close to making it through the Mega, but JJ < AK (on turn, no less), and that was that Oh well.
Eric Baldwin about to win the $1500 NL where I placed 33rd. He was at my table on Day 1 for like an hour or so. Didn't know if he knew who I was, but apparently he did, as he called me "Todd" at one point. Otherwise he didn't talk much to anyone. Good player, though.
Was surprised to see Jay Farber didn't make the final table, as he had a shitload of chips when I busted, and he wasn't playing crazy. Alvin Finklestein, who busted me, got 6th.
I'm flying in Sunday for the monster.
