What a dumbass move by Roseanne. How can you be her age and not realize that a comment like that will get you fired and ostracized?

Personally I have always felt that comedians deserve extra leeway because otherwise they'll be afraid to tell jokes about pretty much everything, but even they have to have boundaries -- especially when they have a lot to lose like Roseanne did here.

I guess I'll be hearing her doing stupid timeshare infomercials while driving to Vegas again.

Really does suck for the cast and crew of the show who lost their jobs over this.

It's one thing if the show just sucks or is poorly rated, and gets cancelled for that reason. That's showbiz.

But it's another to be happily moving along believing that you're part of something big and successful, and then one day it's just gone.

I just saw a picture of the person Roseanne attacked. I dunno the context of the joke but I kinda see where she is coming from. I dunno how The Muslim Brotherhood fits in, but the woman's face does kind of look like a mask you would see on the original Planet of the Apes. I would guess plastic surgery is involved, which is a little ironic because Roseanne has clearly had plenty of work done herself.

In a vacuum I think everyone would be overacting to fire Roseanne just for that. I could even see a black comedian getting away with that kind of joke in the right context. But Roseanne's tweets in general show a pattern that can't be ignored.

I gotta admit, when I was reading about this this morning (without ever even seeing a picture of the person) I didn't realize it was basically a white looking woman with a small chin. If you tell me she is black I will take your word for it, but that wouldn't have been my first or second guess.

Earlier I skimmed through the news and came to the (incorrect) conclusion she was referring to Wanda Sykes. I thought "yeah I see what she means"

The sad part is that despite the real life Roseanne behaving the same way we could easily imagine Jewdonks mom behaving, it really was a good show that did a great job, imo, of compassionately giving a voice to both sides of the currently divided country. The 'character' Roseanne had a black granddaughter, a grandson that liked to wear dresses to school and made friends with her brown, food stamp using neighbors after thinking they were building a fertilizer bomb. Great writing, too.
