Not a bad day for the PFA Radio hosts, as both myself and Brandon made it through Day 1.
I got a pretty good table draw, as it was lacking any known top players. Of the starting 9, only 3 of us made it through to Day 2, which was about average. Nobody was completely clueless, but LOL at some of the starting hands people were playing.
I got off to a decent start and slowly chipped up. At one point, I slumped a bit, falling from about 32k down to 20, but I won a big pot which put me back over 30, and I finished with 32200. Interestingly, while I had a lot of mediocre and bad hands surprisingly hold up, almost all of my monster flops ended up losing or getting quartered. I even failed to drag the high against 2 tiny-stack preflop all-ins despite flopping 2 pair and the nut flush draw, on the day's final hand. I never broke 35k, and was seemingly perpetually in the low-30s for the final hour, despite playing a number of fairly big pots.
Brandon had a much more stressful day, however. He got off to a good start, but hit a midday slump, failing to win any hands for a long period of time. He was all in 3 times and survived all 3, and finally chipped up to a more playable 12k. He stayed around there for awhile, before taking down the night's final hand, and bagging 18800.
David Sklansky, looking very old and frail, was sat next to Brandon in the middle of the day. They didn't say a word to one another, and Sklansky eventually busted.
Chris Ferguson showed up very late (they laughably allow late registration for 8 levels), ran his stack up immediately, but then chunked it all off, and was busted near the end of the day by Mike Matusow.
296 out of 911 players remain. Slightly more than half of these players (137) will cash.
Average stack is about 23k.
We will return to play 1k/2k limit (500/1000 blinds).
I am currently 66th in chips, and Brandon is 172nd.
Here are the chip counts for everyone remaining: http://www.wsop.com/pdfs/reports/164...S-BY-CHIPS.pdf

Here's my table:

Richard Weeks CINCINNATI, OH, US 8,600 Amazon / 530 / 8
Christopher Vitch Phoenix, AZ, US 20,800 Amazon / 530 / 9
I'm the biggest stack at the table, but this doesn't matter all that much , as it's a limit event.
I don't recognize any names except Chris Vitch, who is very good, and is known as DeathDonkey on 2+2.
Here's Brandon's table:
Corey Hochman PHOENIX, AZ, US 27,400 Amazon / 506 / 1
James Chen, Taichung, Taiwan 21,900 Amazon / 506 / 2

I don't recognize any of those names.
Brandon and I have only cashed together once -- at the "50/50" event (where 50% of the field cashes) in 2015. In that event, we were #1/#2 chipleaders at one point, but Brandon ran horribly on Day 2. We both made it substantially beyond the 50% mark, and both cashed beyond the buyin amount. I actually finished 40th on that one.
This is only my 3rd Omaha event ever. It's my first time making Day 2.
This event almost didn't happen for me. About 40 hours before the event, I was stricken by a strange, persistent nausea and lethargy, which I believe was a case of food poisoning. It lasted for more than a day, but subsided enough to where I was able to make the 300-mile drive to Vegas overnight. I didn't feel perfect yet, but was barely healthy enough to feel comfortable making the drive. After sleeping during the day, and waking up at about 1:45pm, the symptoms were gone, so I was able to go play the event as scheduled. Had the nausea persisted, I would have skipped it.
The Day 2 action begins at 2pm.
A Todd/ZoD final table would go down in history as one of the greatest ever.
Have a busy weekend but wanted to pop in and wish Druff and Drexel the best of luck and hope you both catch all the cards tonight.
Turns out "Rudolf Schwartz" is Adam Schwartz of the 2+2 Pokercast.
And before any of you bash him for that, understand that he's actually a regular PFA Radio listener, despite his boss' hatred for me.
