Fanduel purchased by Paddy Power Betfair

Dominos are falling fast since the sports betting ruling.

Im curious if this means you'll be able to sports bet via fanduel in States they operate in, specifically Florida.

100%...they aint buying this for the DFS part...they're buying it for the ability to offer sports betting and getting the database of people who they know will fire on sporting events...

people will still do DFS, but this is gonna be another blow to that industry...paddy power is obviously gonna push the sports betting part of this whole thing..

Yup, this is a buy for said reason. I'm sure they'll keep the draft product running as long as it is profitable, but it's a way to get in front of a lot of bettors when the time comes...Paddy Power has some name recognition already and that can grow - look at William Hill in the US now...

I have a FanDuel account, although I prefer DK for daily fantasy. They offer -105 lines and I would have no problem sports betting on their platform.

yeah it obviously goes back to the stars model now...promote the really -EV casino/sports book and try to make poker as small of an offering as possible and make it harder on the pros to do their shit...get as much revenue for the company as possible...don't let the pros get their hands on it with only a small percentage going to the house...

the fish pounding in DFS is infinitely worse than poker...takes no more concentration/effort to enter $0.25 contests in DFS if you are entering $1000 contests...gonna be pretty awesome to see those DFS guys get fucked bigtime by the fish just firing on games instead of DFS...the DFS tout business has gone through the roof in the last couple of years as the easy money had been plucked in 2014-16...gonna be interesting to see if it gets even worse as that industry contracts..

Maybe it goes both ways though, where guys who weren't into DFS might deposit $$ on the site to bet games and then as long as they are there fire off a couple entries in a big GPP too.

absolutely possible, but I think that in short order they'll figure out that they're getting chopped up pretty quickly and just stick to betting sports where they only have to choose between A and B...

I'm assuming that some states will require them to get licensed before they offer sports betting in that state. The wheels must already be in motion but they shouldn't assume it will be a free for all in every state.

Paddy been mopping up the online rec punter market for years

IDK what it’s like over there, I know Hills are already established, but IMO Will Hills are one of the worst for odds and bonuses.
