Gookie's Horse Race Thread ( All Bets ) Follow The Insanity

So as some of you have showed interest in horse racing I have decided to start a separate thread in Flying Stupidity .

I put a lot of work in to my wagers and possibly I can turn some of the horse race guys on to some winning tickets . I will post my wagers in this thread when they come up and keep an accurate record of all wagers . This is not for the faint of heart . The variance in Horse Racing is vast. I suggest if you want to mirror my tickets do so with caution and within your bankroll. As of 5/22/18 I am focused on Louisiana Tracks . For the most part Evangeline Downs . I will post my thoughts on the cards I am wagering on and the tickets that I create . Feel free to talk about other races or tracks and lets keep the topic to Horse racing only.

I know there are some hardcore race guys in these forums . Lets make some money . I am starting with a bankroll of $5,000.00 I am mainly doing this project to see if I can make more money by the end of the year in Horse Race wagers then playing pathetic poker games at my local casino . Background on me. I have been retired since I was 28 years old . So for the last 20 years I have been playing poker and making various wagers . Since 2010 I have mainly been focused on Horse racing making poker a second priority . I have had two losing years between poker and horses in the last 8 years. I live in a condo in Northern Arizona that I own and frequently make trips to Nevada for various poker tournaments and cash games . I am hoping by the end of the summer to move back to Nevada . Between the vast knowledge that I have witnessed on this forum over the years between NWP, DD and PFA there have been many opportunities to make money . I hope to contribute in a small way to giving everybody a chance with this thread.


I have a wager today at Louisiana Downs that I will post after the scratches and changes have come in.

Also a heads up . There will be a Horse racing at Canterbury on Friday 5/25/18 that I will be giving out . I have been waiting for this horse to run back at Evangeline but he got shipped to Minnesota and is entered . Also Fridays card at Evangeline is shaping up to be a great Pick 4 opportunity from races 6-9 . More on that as Friday approaches .

Bet all you got AGAINST Justify in the Belmont. He faded BIGLY down the stretch at the Preakness, he would have lost if the race was one more furlong. He'll never get there at 1.5 miles. I am making a 4 figure bet in an Exacta box and he won't be in it.

Draymond: I am not big on the Triple Crown races but have paid very much attention to it this year. I agree that Justify is not a freak or a superhorse yet why was I very happy to see him squeak out a win in the Preakness? The reason you just stated GREED!!!!



Some of my biggest scores have come in years past when a horse fails to win the Belmont after completing the triple crown double . Birdstone was the best when he zoomed past Smarty Jones but there have been many others . The public and the media are going to drive Justify's odds into oblivion and if History and his physical appearance are correct we will profit from that. I have mentioned this in other threads on this forum. I do have a horse that I really like in the Belmont if he is entered and I do not stand alone on that opinion as I have already read some comments from some handicappers that are much more skilled then myself. Justify reminds me more recently of another failed triple crown hype horse his name was California Chrome . or how about this familiar read With over a half-mile to run in the historic longest jewel of racing's Triple Crown, jockey Kent Desormeaux stepped on Big Brown's pedal only to find out he had passed the last gas station miles ago. Shockingly, an apparently uninjured Big Brown was slowed to a hand gallop and finished last in the field of nine. One last comment for the poker players if you can read body language you should take a look at Mike Smith before the Preakness . His face showed complete worry he was not confident that day . Also we can react to Baffert constantly being really surprised so far about the performance of this colt. It all adds up to one big Excuse come June 9th . We can only hope he stays healthy enough to get jammed into Big Sandys starting gate for his date with his fate.

Scratches and changes seem to be in so here is todays Pick 4 play


On a normal Tuesday I would be doing research and getting ready for Wednesday's card but a few races at Louisiana Downs have peaked my interest today . I have put together a pick four ticket starting in Race #4


Race #4 : I truly wanted this race to produce my single but it is just way to close to have a single and since I am going for some value in future races I had to go two deep here . Both horses in here finished 2nd in there debuts and seem to stand tops over the rest of the field since these are 3 yr old fillies and fillies love to bounce I am hoping one of them see's the winners circle here today .

Leg #1 = #2 and #4


Race #5 : This is a interesting race and I am hoping they bet the hell out of #6 . I have secret weapon in this leg and again I am attempting to beat what I think will be a heavy favorite in here . If I had to single in this race it would be the #8 But I just cant risk it so I am 3 deep in here . I will say the #8 if better then 5-1 is worth a Win and Place wager . This horse comes out of a key race run a few weeks ago at Evangeline . The #7 gets into the ticket based on two factors . First time out a huge win and Gerard Melancon traveled to ride the horse . Gmoney as he is known is the top turf rider at Evangeline Downs

Leg #2 = #1 and #7 and #8


Race #6 : Here is a classic example of a horse that will take tons of money #4 . I can't leave him off the ticket but he is going to be over bet and very vulnerable . The #5 in here has a bad habit at the start where he likes to hesitate and throw the rider . This happened in his last race . The #3 comes out of a key race and could upset the apple cart at a big price would consider a win and place bet here as well on #3. The reason I am not keen on the #4 is this will be his very first time facing open company and older horses .

Leg#3 = #3 and #4 and #5


Race #7 : Another race where the ML Fav is very vulnerable and usually the worst written race on the card . I am hitting the All button here because if we are still alive and we managed to get our value horses home there is potential for a big score if something crazy happens in the 7th race .

Leg #4 = ALL BUTTON



So the ticket will read

1-7-8

3-4-5

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-9

I will be playing this as a .50 cent base wager costing $72.00

I ended up making a jackpot pick 6 ticket and also a jackpot pick 5 ticket as well . Since you have to be the only person in the world to hold a winning ticket I refrained from posting those. . I also played a straight double in races #1 and #2 combo numbers #4 and #4 .
