Binked the late pik4 and pik3 at Evangeline Downs Tonight

Obvious Brag : So I am a Horse Player . I spend about 2 hours every morning watching replays and only play 4-5 tracks that race throughout the year . Evangeline being one of them . Remington, Turf Paradise, Smaller tracks. Today was a horrible day until the last 2 tickets I held

    Pick 4 Sequence 6-1/85-1/2-5/12-1

My ticket was $30.00 and was 2x3x1x5

Also had Pick 3 with 85-1 in the first leg .

Anyways IRS will come calling for 30% cause the $1.00 Pick 4 paid $10,825.00

Pick 3 only paid $1700 so I skate on that .

    Good Luck
    Gookie

really nice to get a big payout when yu have a 2/5 win. that in itself makes it a pick 3 for the most part.

obv the 85-1 had to be the wheel race where you got goulie...once again,,,gj

Beautiful score Gookie! Love to hear of another Pick 4 junkie.

You may skate on that IRS ownage. In 2018, The new w2g Irs withholding rules were implemented to pari-mutual wagering. Under the new rules, Taxes withheld are based on total bet , not based on the $1 base bet. It has been another game changer, for me anyways. Boom to Horse and Hound Degens.

Earlier in the year, I skirted on a hound twin tri. I bet $360 on the front half and acquired 36 exchanges. Binked the back for the whole pot, and zero taxes were withheld. There was not a W2-g report filed.

Oh thought your total bet in the race was $45 x300= for a $13500 threshold. My bad

    Hello

I would enjoy seeing your yearly hours invested vs return. I love an anomaly. Not to bet personally, but to follow for interest.

Thanks for your post and good luck. You may be a Towelist and not even know it.

    Peace

Don't think the new rules apply because anything over 5k is gonna get hit from federal regardless of investment amount...the 1700 on the pick 3 could apply....before it used to be anything over $600 or 300-1 odds on your base bet would get taxed (not amount invested)...so if he bet a "$1 pick 3" that cost let's say $24 total, it would still be subject to being a "signer".....the new regulation now says the 300-1 threshold will be based on the amount bet...so if it paid 1700 but he spent $24 on the ticket, he would be good because total amount invested to what the payoff was wouldn't be 300-1 odds or greater

    Thanks :

The Tax rules for Horse racing changed recently. The Pick 4 Ticket Cost $30.00 . It will get whacked for 30% at the window . Anything over 300-1 x total bet so if it paid less then $9,000 I would have collected it all no taxes required.

The Pick 3 Ticket is safe from withholding because that ticket cost $15.00 . At 300-1 x total bet It would have had to be over $4,500

    Good Luck
