I still think we will be hearing about a counterfeit or kept/stolen chip scandal at the WSOP soon enough.
I've theorized on radio that it's+EV to swipe $1000 and $5000 tournament chips in the later stages, as their value in the early stages is higher (especially in low buyin tournaments).
Also, if you swipe such chips, it's not difficult to put them back on your stack if you end up needing them.
And then there's the counterfeit issue. The events are way too big and crowded for people to notice good counterfeit jobs.
I would never do these things myself, but I've always wondered if stuff like this is happening.
