Talent wise, I think Curt was better than Bret "the hitman" Hart. Curt should have had a better career than Bret, but Curt was often injured, and he had a tendency to get out of shape. Compare Bret and Curt though. Curt was way better on the mic. Curt had way more charisma. Their in ring ability was close, but Bret was probably slightly better in the ring

What is with your fascination with 40 something wrestlers who died of steroid abuse?

Me too, although I drifted away from wrestling early enough they don't hold the sentimental value and interest today they do to you. Enjoy your threads though bringing back old memories. I don't have a lot of vivid memories of childhood for whatever reason, but 2 wresting matches I vividly remember watching and being enthralled by are an Undertaker vs Hulk Hogan match at I think Survivor Series and Macho Man vs Ultimate Warrior at one of the Wrestlemanias.

Was just thinking about him. He was a fucking bad ass and a great worker. And yes, I will make a thread about him eventually. Since it is on topic, below is a link to a letter Curt wrote to a wrestling magazine after his best friend "Rick Rude" died.

    http://forum.wrestlingfigs.com/threa...tter-rick-rude

Was just thinking. I remember in high school I worked at a nursing home. I was lapsed as fuck during my high school years, probably didn't watch 1 wrestling match. Anyway one of the residents at the home had Rick Rude photos posted all over his room. And I didn't remember who it was so I asked him "who is that?" and he told me it was his son. I asked him if his son still wrestles and he said "no, he died. he did too many steroids."

I see I got some Minnesota reps. I am not in Minnesota too often anymore, but I would say about 60% of the times I go up to Grand Casino Mille Lacs I see Curt Hennig's dad "Larry the Axe Hennig". He has a lake home up on lake mille lacs and goes to the casino all the time. Thought about going and telling him how godly I think his son Curt was, but I just let him gamble in peace instead.

Exactly. I know he wants to gamble in peace, so that is what I let him do.

Although if I ever had a son, and he was as godly as Curt, then he died.... It would never get old having randoms come up to me and tell me how godly my son was.

I doubt it if you were down a few thousand at backjack that night. You'd be fucking pissed.

True. And Larry is always down. He prefers poker, but that casino doesn't run poker 24/7. The only Larry the Axe quote that I remember is after he busted "ughhhh, i guess i have $2000 more to spend"

We could also sidetrack this thread and turn it into a Larry "the axe" Hennig thread. I never watched Larry wrestle, but I have heard he was a great great wrestler in the AWA. Here is a pic of Curt's father and his son. Very sad that his father and son are alive, but he has passed away.

I’m sure this is an English thing, but early nineties about 6 or 8 of us would go to a holiday camp, 16-17 years old.
Obviously pretending we were 18 to get served, sometimes we’d tell them we were in the army blah blah anything to talk to the girls.
Anyway these sort of places used to have English wrestling, 2 public warnings or best of 3 falls.

So I’m watching this shit with my mates on a Saturday afternoon and because I’m friendly I said to the little kid next to me.. who’s your favourite wrestler? It must be Hulk Hogan?

He basically spat his slush puppy out and said no !! It’s Mr Perfect!!

Fuck you kid... but it’s just reminded me why I posted I this thread .

But I did watch the Andre documentary on Netflix recently.

Mr perfect was also my favorite even though he was a heel and I usually only liked faces. Perfect was just so cool, had the perfect blond hair, perfect personality, ect.... And I was too young to realize it then, but he was nearly the perfect wrestler. When Randy Savage made a rap album below is one of the songs on the album. "the perfect friend" about Curt "Mr. Perfect" Hennig.

    My favourite was Giant Haystacks.

I think he wrestled maybe in WCW as Haystacks Calhoun. In second place was Kendo Nagasaki, don’t know how to YouTube on here but that cunt was the real deal.

I’m seen him hypnotise his opponents with my own eyes. That shit was real .

Giant Haystacks. Maybe that was a joke, but I think fat fucks with no athletic ability is one thing that the business is seriously missing. I dont think they should be in every match. I dont even think they should be in 30% of the matches. But there is definitely a spot on the card for gigantic fat fucks.
