Would you play live poker in a room that has banned headphones or ear buds?

My local card room has some fairly weird rules one of which is no headphones or ear buds allowed . Has this become common practice at other rooms?

Another rule that possibly is not all that common but was different . They have a deep stack $120.00 buy in every Saturday . Usually about 45 players . Top 5 usually get paid . They have a rule that there is to be absolutely no talk of a chop while in the room. A guy brought up a chop last time I played and the card room manager threatened to suspend the tournament and confiscate all prize money essentially she threatened to rob the remaining players forcing them to go through the gaming commission to get any money back.

I guess since its a tribal casino they can make there own rules?

    This is in Arizona

Sometimes enjoy listening to a podcast or music . Truly depends on who is sitting at table. They run an O8 game on M-W-F with usually an average age of 70 . I have nothing in common with these folks and sometimes hearing the same stories over and over gets tedious. Just thought its a weird rule.

Not much to learn. They always check unless they have the nuts . They never raise a high hand only they love 3-4 betting nut low hands even when the know they are getting quartered. They talk about nothing of interest . I am the youngest guy in the game at 48 years old by 20 years . Only a few guys have interesting stories but they forgot they told me about them two days ago .

The game is about as easy as a game can get. They might all as well be playing cards face up. No I-pads . Only salvation I have is the TV with no sound on the wall.

Well said ( No Offense Taken) . Internet poker is out of the question . That only happens when all four states merge into one pool then I move back to Nevada

If the games are good then wtf cares? Just mute your phone and play a game or surf the internet if you need distractions while not in a hand.

Talking to people in a live setting could bring you some entertainment while potentially gaining information on your villains.

Kind of funny how shitty and poorly run the world is, especially in poker rooms.

If I was the poker room and wanted a no chop rule, talk about the chop all you want, we aren't splitting out the payments in any way besides as they are listed.

Solves the problem, and doesn't make for a potential horrendous customer service situation.

There's a room like that in Illinois, but it takes it a step further. You're not even allowed to use your phone, even when you're not in a hand.

I take headphones with me every time I play cards, casino or home game. I almost never use them. This rule would actually make it easier as I wouldn't needlessly charge and carry them around for no reason.
It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?

Earphones are like smoking, the card room is better without them. nothing worse than 4 morons at the table with their earphones on.

Back before the poker boom, Diamond Lil's was the biggest card room in the Seattle area. The rule there was The tournament will be played until all the chips are at 1 seat, and the payouts will be made as advertised. Talk all you want.

a bunch of people Chip shuffling in a big card room after playing a long time the noise can seem deafening and is super annoying so a nice pair of noise canceling headphones bose qc35 would bring the noise level down to a reasonable level. also would work if some super annoying slot machine is bleeping horrible noises near card rooms.

I think there should be some concessions if your not a chip shuffler and are annoyed by constant inherent casino noises.

rule is shit and unfair. chip shuffling should be banned as well then etc, etc, etc.

I agree with you that the din of a card room can be mind numbing, but when you are sitting at a table that's averaging 20 hands an hour because 4 guys have to be nudged to act every hand. I will take the noise all day long.
