Hi Druff, I caught some of the DNegs segment earlier, and you characterized somethings I've said about him in (imo) an unfair way.

Paraphrasing here, but you said something about how I describe Daniel as a terrible person as if Hellmuth isn't objectively worse. Most of my contempt is really for PokerStars, and in our previous discussions about it, I believe I mostly spoke about their manipulation of the media (traditional and social) and the awful condescending way they treat the community. That's a huge problem, and I'm disappointed that Daniel is complicit in it, but I don't actually think he's a bad person. I think he's thin-skinned, childish, and quite gullible, but not a scumbag. I think he parrots Amaya talking points for the same reasons he attends "emotional intelligence" leadership courses.

I absolutely agree with you that Hellmuth is far worse. Doug might be friendly with him, but we don't agree about everything. I strongly dislike Phil and have from the first time I met him.

Of course, none of this stuff is personal to me. At the end of the day I just make shit for the luls. There may be many worse people in the poker community than DNegs, but nobody can top him in the sheer volume of grade-A material for mockery.

Druff, That was me calling in at the end of the show. Wanted to give you suggestion on how to resolve your conundrum of concerns about taking investors for the WSOP this year....


How about if you offer to sell those pieces at a reduced markup, say only 10%. That much of a discount from the markup you’ve charged in the past should assuage any guilt you might have over exposing the investors to potential losses, while also given loyal PFA members the opportunity to sweat your participation. And if a markup of only 10% won’t assuage your guilt, go as low as 5%!

And to handle the likely crush of interested backers, give priority to past backers ranked by how much they previously backed you in recent years in which they suffered losses doing so.

I understand, but the truth is that the markup covers my time, effort, and expense to play these events. I'm not broke to where I have to offer a great deal in order to play.

But my statement about the guilt of losing for others is real. I hate feeling like I failed others, rather than just myself.

Okay, won't argue with any of this. I had thought you were much more anti-Daniel than this, but I believe you.

As you've heard from this and other shows, I mostly think positively of Doug, and mostly agree with the points he raises on his videos. I do think he overdoes it with the Daniel trolling, but at the same time, I realize he personally dislikes Daniel, and I have also been guilty of criticizing players more whom I also happen to dislike personally. Also, Daniel indeed has brought on some of his own recent problems. Starting from his patronizing/bullshitty blog following the final decision to fuck the Supernova Elites, he's made a series of bad decisions regarding his treatment of poker pros and over-shilling for Stars.

I understand, but the truth is that the markup covers my time, effort, and expense to play these events. I'm not broke to where I have to offer a great deal in order to play.

I am still deciding what to do.

How about if charge the standard markup upfront but refund it the investors dont at recover their investment. That way you get paid for time, effort, etc. if the investors make mney and refunding the marlip is a way to assuahe the guilt of “failing” them. And if you arent sure hw you’d feel about his, only sell up to 20% instead of 40%. And set the max per investor to 2% versus 44%.

Know that the intent here is to figure out a way for you to offer some the chance to enjoy swearing your WSOP play with a tolerable level of guilt if you run bad.
