    limitles E.U. thank-you very much

Visting family on the weekend and talk drifted to our lineage.
Younger brother did some root tracing a while back and reminded us that we are descendants
of United Empire Loyalists who fought the good fight in the American Revolutionary War and were rewarded with
land above the 49th for their efforts.

As such I can use U.E. behind my surname and this crest in our coat of arms which we have none.

This explains a lot when people ask me what have I got against Americans and I can't really put my finger on it.

"The acquisition of Canada this year will be a mere matter of marching"

Thomas Jefferson pre War of 1812.

    Not so much

And let's be honest, what war have you ever won, besides the mop up job you did in WWII.
Too worried or disinterested to join the fray until absolutely necessary, when others were
    ground down.
    Fuck off

    Dear LimitLes

So your are a historian now, eh?

How about the Cold War? You know, the one the rest of the free world has largely not participated in the paying for--as a result, Americans believe socialist Euro/UK commonwealth countries have money to provide social benefits to their residents that middle class Americans have to pay for themselves

also, don't reproach the US not being in the Euro Wars I & II until the 2nd half...Americans believe the US earned the right to stay out by twice fighting Britain...and despite getting soundly pummeled the US endured to win out in the end...since the War of 1812, the US has never lost wars on the battlefield, but has lost some wars of public/world opinion...

meanwhile, Canada chose to stick with Britain, and as a result, got pulled into both Euro wars at the outset--if Canada had had the courage and grit to step away from Britain, it would not have been obligated...then again, without Britain's protection, the US could well have included your pacific and prairie provinces in the manifest destiny land taking...

maybe some online extension courses at Queen's College?

No historian but what you're saying sounds like something passed down by your daddy which he heard from his daddy.

As a recognized nation you have the right to remain neutral when war breaks out. Nations don't have the right to inavde other nations and if they do you either sit back and watch or fight. Obligations or earned rights are not good reasons to join up or remain neutral.

Get real with your cold war theories. Ya, how's that for a smack down....get real dude

I think an accurate history of the second half of the 20th century is pretty clear the US used its military and economic might to make itself the pre-eminent superpower of that time, and arguably any time. I don't think anyone (except you) even disputes this.

Most of the criticism is that the US was unethical in promoting its own interests over that of pretty much everyone else.

Your first sentence is twisted. So much so that you have me disputing the military might of the
U.S. Didn't say that, never said that. BTW that "might" only came after the second world war when the spoils firmly landed in your pockets. Americans and their history. Should be a Youtube show.

That's not hatred, just jealously. Living in that shit stained failed Marxist experiment of a nation you inhabit must be frustrating. I understand why the hooch gets the best of you as often as it does. I'd never hate you less. I have too much pity for you.

Hate's not the right word. I use it too often. First time I remember using it was on vacation south of the border and the hotel candy machine offered nothing we had heard of or liked. We hated every choice. Baby Ruth, Three Musketeer's and one with jelly like shit in it.
