    1. Have you had an EGD?
    2. Are you on Nexium?
    3. 1&2 need done asap if not.

Depending on results you need a good gastroenterologist. One that knows how to stretch strictures if you have them. Chronic reflux erodes the esophagus and can cause strictures that need to be stretched periodically. You will also need ongoing egds as determined by gastroenterologist to monitor effectiveness of nexium and to watch for further strictures as well as squamous cell changes called Barretts esophagus, a precurser of esophageal cancer.

My ex has been going through this for years, with the last couple years being stable and only 2 stricture stretches since the beginning.

The only way you will suffer is by not doing the above.

Eliminate sodas, it is not worth it.
Eat small frequent meals and remain upright 30 mins after.

If you are still having trouble with food, go to liquid diet ie ensure or carnation breakfast essentials until you see doc.

Dont panic, this is a manageable disease if not ignored.

Pm me if you have any other questions or concerns.

Chin up its not a death sentence is proper treat sought.

    Love, split.
Hey thanks Split and everyone for the advice and encouragement.
I guess I should have said in the op that I have only self-diagnosed.
And the most recent flare ups were preceded by nights of beer,
cola's or energy drinks often drank quickly. I have had digestion
problems in the past but not since dropping carbs from my diet.

So it may be a warning sign but it's a strong one, enough so that
I'm giving up my beloved beer and pop. And I'm keeping a bottle of Gas-X at hand.

An alkaline pH of 8.1 keeps acid levels in lineNaturally occurring electrolytes and minerals: Magnesium, Potassium, Calcium and Bicarbonate

Anyone with G.E.R.D., L.E.S or acid reflux might want to try this.
