If you briefly step away, is it the casino responsible for chips you leave at a table ?

I saw the thread about the RIO where the guy got robbed for 22k . Is there a difference between leaving money on a table at a poker cash game versus leaving chips/cash at say a blackjack table or any pit game? I guess I have been naive in that I always thought it was the casinos responsibility if something happened to my chips while I was away from the table. I cant count how many times I have actually been encouraged by the dealer or pit boss to leave my chips on the table while I go take a piss or do something. The obvious reason for this is they dont want you to cash out as they want you to keep playing. I wonder if the policy differs from casino to casino although it seems as if the Gaming control board would have something to say about this.

with poker you can't take your chips off the table except to tip if you want to keep playing otherwise you could just rathole money all day. due to that rule it should be up to the casino to protect your chips when you're off taking a piss or taking a cig break.

This is the exact reason I just assumed they were responsible for them. But if the Rio isn't helping out here, I don't see them offering a refund on craps chips either.
I think that is total BS myself.

If I am going to be gone more than a few minutes I usually take a ll my chips 100 and above.

Texter was wrong. You just have to put the same amount of money back.

For the situation at the Rio imo if this was for only a few hundred bucks they would of just paid the guy to keep him coming back but since it's for much more the Rio just don't want to pay.

I have heard of two different instances lately where Vegas casinos would not reimburse a player who left his chips at the table and then had them stolen. I, like everybody else always assumed that since its table stakes and you are encouraged leave your chips at the table that the casino must be responsible for them if taken. WRONG.

I know that if you leave credits on a video poker machine and they are stolen while you go take a piss that it is not the casinos problem either, you would have to be a regular losing player for them to reimburse you.

People need to be aware of this.

I saw this happen twice when I was a at a table both times in Vegas at Caesars properties. bally s and Caesars palace.. The casino didn't pay either time once was for like 400 and the other time like 1000. I could see why they wouldn't pay up. You could have a freind at the table steal your chips and leave the casino you come back from dinner break and you catch the drift.

But if your friend is identified by one of thousands of cameras, he would go to jail. You would obviously be required to file a police report before they ever gave your money back. I just don't see this as a ploy that would be as open to conspiracy as others.

Your best bet, as mentioned earlier us to take your chips with you, leaving $1 as a marker. You aren't required to leave your chips, you are simply required to come back and place the same amount back on the table.
It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?
