no one owns a car in nyc, and amtrak / hudson line trains take you as far as poughkeepsie basically which is still an hour away.

so the only option is to get on one of those janky tour busses. the upside being, there are a lot of janky tour busses that leave from very convenient locations, and they have a ton of super convenient return times through like 3:30am.

problem is, very few fish are going to take a bus up there and back. its mostly going to be olds looking to play blackjack and hardcore pokercunts.

we will see tho. i mean personally, this casino is like 30 minutes away from the best fly fishing on the east coast, and literally the perfect distance for me to swing through on my way home for a steak and a few dozen hands of what the fuck ever, so im really not concerned. im not looking for feverdream level stakes to augment my lifestyle.

One thing that does concern me a bit is that the reviews are pretty fucking savage. Bathrooms are filthy, too few waitresses, and the food is shit. And although exactly none of that matters to me, its not going to help bring in the hedgefags.

Then one day my wife saw an ad for a resort in the Poconos featuring a heart shaped tub. I told her there was no fucking way I am driving, god only knows how many hours, to the fucking Poconos just for a stupid heart shaped tub.

She packed her bags and disappeared for several days leaving me with two small kids to tend to. I barely knew their names much less their routine. I was working and had commitments. No one knew where she went or if she would ever come back.

She returned but I have been wearing panties ever since.

She now wants to remodel the kitchen. I like Cherry wood and dark counters. She likes white and blue. White and blue is nice.

I get the Poconos really aren’t the Catskills. However, if you think I ain’t going there for a heart shaped tub you best believe I won’t be going there for fucking poker.

It's always bouncing around, Taj (rip), Harrahs, Ballys, Borgata. After a few months someone pisses someone off and they move the game somewhere else. Couple more years and they will be mostly dead.
have you ever played in the 80-160 OOE they have at Borgata? that'd be a pretty big game for me and I cant see there being very many "whales" wanting to play OOE...
I haven't actually played there in over a year, but when I was playing 1-2 times a month I got into many 40-80 games that often got bumped up to 80-160 (weird yellow $20 chips). I started playing regularly around the same time that Borgata started spreading all the fun draw games.

I usually avoided the O.E games with all the old guys because it was just boring and they kinda treated me like shit. It was fun to troll them but the games were super nitty and I doubt I ever really had an edge + it just wasn't fun.

The most fun games always included multiple weird draw games like badacey and my personal favorite (purely for entertainment value) was Stud Split without a qualifier. I think it was just called "Q" on the board. Way more action than Stud8.

I often played HU or 3 handed with a few old school posters like John Dagostinos wife (I think she was a neverwin poster that goes by "silence")

    ahh...the good ole days

interesting...id take a shot if it was nitty old guys and not over aggro mid/high stakes guys...

I played the 30/60 (1/3 kill) game at Bellagio like 10 years ago and that game was a goldmine...granted small sample size, but the players in that game were nothing special like I thought they would be...

    :bump poker room is open.

they had the usual 1-2 / 2-5 NL tables open and at one point spread 5-5 PLO, some others.. i think they had a good 20+ tables going tho and a healthy waiting list for other games including 5-10 stud, 10-20 LHE, 10-25 NLHE (!!!!) and 2-2 PLO, plus some other predictables.. not sure which of those if any ultimately ran tho.

i will likely head up this weekend if the 10-20lhe.

i think the big problem here is that they have 17 tables and the biggest waiting list items are invariably low to mid stakes NLHE and PLO.

so they are basically never going to get any serious limit games running.

    thats such a fucking shame.

guaranteed its all the same faces one would see at the 'underground' NL games in nyc.

I remember at the Hard Rock in Tampa circa 2007 the wait on tables were 50 deep for 1-2 and 2-5 NLHE. It was crazy. I don't think the live game ever recovered from the recession in 2008-09. I was in Detroit a couple years ago and there were like two tables going with total burnouts. Poker is fucking dead.

its 9:30ish, there are 47 people on the waitlist just to play 1-2 NL.

it appears they managed to pack 2 more tables into the poker room as well.

so they could start more 1-2 NL games.

10:30pm - 61 people waiting just to play 1-2 NL.
