But the worst part is this MFer told all arriving officers to "stay back" 500 feet. So he put the thought in the mind of responding officers to stop rather than save lives, all against department protocol, courage and the chance to save a few lives.

Apparently Nikolas Cruz should have never been in Stoneman Douglas High School, if the policies in Broward County were sane. They weren't. Cruz had horrible discipline problems in middle school, repeatedly getting suspended, and trying to show videos to other students of him torturing animals. While psychiatrists working with him strongly recommended against him being placed in a mainstream high school, district policy (championed by the left, by the way) required that, once he showed minor improvement at his special needs school, they were forced to place him in a regular high school.
This is despite the fact that they actually had to frisk him every day in middle school, out of fear that he would bring weapons to school and harm people.
He was also allowed to join Junior ROTC, which was also a mistake given his repeated stated desires to kill people at school.
