absolutely not fringe left but definitely not center left.
center left = hillary
bernie is basically a socialist but not looking to tear down anything.
fringe left is traditionally where you start to get into armed revolutionaries, torching cop cars, bombing banks, so on. think weathermen, symbionese liberation army, so on. what i found so confusing about this conversation is that none of that has really existed for a while, so now all it takes to be fringe left is dressing in black and throwing tear gas canisters back at the riot police.

But this is exactly my point; I'm not sure you understand what constitutes the 'left' in America today. Or perhaps we are simply discussing two different perspectives; Hillary represents the mean for contemporary leftist politics in America. Pro Wall Street, pro womens rights, pro human rights, pro globalization.. these are the heart and soul of the democratic party currently.
And by claiming the middle ground, the dems have essentially radicalized the republicans, who now must embrace the likes of Trump and his theocratic parasites in order to maintain equal footing within the mechanics of the republic.

Right but using incorrect nomenclature to define the contemporary political spectrum of another country seems like a waste of time to me, somehow.

I don't agree because there certainly are many young people who really are left wing, much further left than the Dems, but not far enough left to be far left. Standard American nomenclature just lumps people together and it's counter-productive. It's like the American political system just lacks any form of nuance. You're either left or right, dem or rep, commie or capitalist, SJW or redneck. It's almost like people have forgot what 'spectrum' means.

Back to the Trump thread retards
Hillary was essentially a republican who believed in civil rights.
What democrats is that to the left of, exactly?
Honestly never mind. I generally find your posts incredibly insightful MrTickle but either we are simply not using compliant nomenclature or there is a bridge too far regarding your perception of what I see in front of me every waking moment.
On top of which your other posts seem to vacillate between agreeing with me then mocking the points you previously made so seriously I'm good with all of this.

I'm guessing MrTickle refers to classical liberalism/economic liberalism. In Europe that's what liberalism means. It doesn't really say anything about the left-right axis. There are liberal political parties from center right to center left.
So it's just, everyone does what they want and by Adam Smith's magical intervention everything works out just fine. When taken to logical conclusion we avoid the likeliest results of neo-feodalism and anarchy because reasons.
