I received a gift certificate for Omaha Steaks for my birthday and went to the store and got some "deals" lol.
It was way overpriced even though all steak was marked @ 50% off.
Not impressed. I will go with Bobby Butcher down the street for better cuts than this overpriced frozen crap.

I literally have no idea who the market is for these. I remember when I first moved to Vegas, the guy at the front desk of my apt complex was going on and on about how he had just received a huge delivery of Omaha frozen steaks and how stoked he was. Thing is, there is a butcher *ten minutes away* from that place that sells much better steaks for less, on top of an incredible assortment of frozen game meat. So yeah, no idea, I dont get it.

Do you have the guy that drives around with the chest freezer in the back of his pickup that sells steaks around there too? It amazes me that they make people thinking that they're getting such a great deal on frozen vacuum packed steaks and roasts. My mom bought some of them one time and they were tough and tasted kinda like tv dinner type meat.

As the forum's resident Nebraskan, I feel I should weigh in. I was actually talking about omaha stakes with Gray Slacks earlier today, and how WOAT they are. The only place you can buy these things in Nebraska is basically at the omaha air port, for sucker rubes to order as a gift or something.
Seriously these steaks are horrible. They aren't even dry aged as far as I know. You can get omaha steak grade meat at an average grocer and MUCH better meat at a butcher or high end grocer.
It's just the power of branding, I guess.
Yeah those steaks are crap. They are cut too thin and the meat's not that great to start with - then they are completely ruined by freezing. To get a good steak, just wait till prime or choice steaks go on sale at your local butcher's or supermarket, and have the guy cut you a few double thicks.
The burgers look good. Will test them out later this weekend. The steaks were ok but overpriced and my local butcher blows them away
