My "old club" has been shut down for almost 2 years now, which pretty much drives a giant nail in your failed theory once again.
Truth is we connected again through some mutual friends and I asked her out. She actually thought I was still bartending until I told her what I was up to on our first date. She's not a gold digger at all, has hustled and worked her ass off, owns her own house, built a life for herself on her own in this town while not falling into the bullshit, which is tough. She's solid.
