Wait 30 mins before eating or drinking anything. Make sure you allow that tab to melt in back of tongue to spare your tooth enamel. It works like a charm for me when I first start with symptoms preventing whatever was going to develop.
I start drinking massive amounts of orange juice.
Evidence is anecdotal, but I've noticed it helps when the symptoms start off mild.
I actually hadn't had a cold since July, but then came down with one two weeks ago DURING radio. Right after radio, I drank a lot of OJ, and I continued doing so the next day. The symptoms never got particularly bad, and within about 3 days, I was mostly better. It was gone by the following week's radio.
This one showed up very strong upon awakening on Sunday -- mostly in the form of a terrible sore throat, and fatigue/body aches followed. (This is all still present.) I tried to drink the OJ but it didn't help this time.
This one also has the weird pattern of the symptoms being bad in the morning, moderating in the late afteroon and early evening, and then getting bad again late at night. This leads me to believe I'm getting better, only to disappoint me each night when things get worse again.
Except I know what to expect, because I've had this particular type about 2-3 other times in my life, the first being nearly 20 years ago. Feels almost identical to those 2-3 other times, especially with the persistent sore throat and the symptoms which subside and then return a few hours later. This repeats for about 7-10 days. It's very frustrating (this is Day #3).
That's why I could safely say that radio wouldn't happen on Wednesday, and perhaps not at all this week.
