    WSOP 2018 Schedule Announced

    http://www.wsop.com/tournaments/

I'll discuss this more on radio and in this thread.

    Some quick things I've noticed:

They've introduced a new GIANT (low buyin -- $365) event, featuring PLO. This is not a surprise. It starts on June 3, and has that stupid format where the structure sucks, everyone cashes Day 1, and it takes place every week on Sunday (starting June 3) until late in the WSOP when everyone combines for Day 2.

I played the NL Holdem GIANT last year and thought it sucked. I won't be playing either this year.

They have stupidly scheduled the Milionaire Maker and Marathon (Extended Play) events on back-to-back days, despite the fact that many people (including me) want to play both.

They have added a new event called "Double Stack NL Holdem" where you start with 10k chips instead of 5000. I'll probably play that if the structure is good. It's a $1k buyin. They still have the Monster Stack (15k chips, I think) starting 6 days later.

They've lowered the age of the Super Seniors to 60, from 65. Stupid. What's next? Lowering the seniors event to 45?

They have oddly moved the Limit Holdem six handed event to July 9, which is during Day 5 of the Main. I find this annoying, as I usually like to just get out of town after I bust the Main. Also, I imagine it will get a terrible turnout.

Speaking of which, they are running several other events during the Main, including Bounty PLO, Little One for One Drop, Mixed NL/PLO, and oddly they are even running events during the Main Final Table, including HORSE and a turbo NL event called The Closer.

I might play four $10k events this year -- Limit Holdem, Limit O/8, PLO8, and the Main. This would, by far, be the most expensive WSOP I play, buyin-wise.

This is also, by far, the earliest they have announced the upcoming WSOP schedule.

I see some more high rollers in there which I'm not surprised because other casinos are doing these throughout the World Series where people like Fedor Holz aren't even wasting their time as he would rather make money then hunt down a bracelet. Now he will be able to do both as for a $100k buyin it will be a smallish field but the most elite players will be in there.

One Million for One Drop is back as it typically is every other year.

Four online bracelet events this year which I believe they had 3 last year if I recall.

78 events in total is up from last years 74.

I also thought this. This works out perfect for me. I wanted to play the $1.5k 8 game mix. I’m also getting married in Vegas this summer but really couldn’t make a set date as I didn’t know the schedule. Figured we wouldn’t learn it until February or so.

Preliminary schedule for me. Probably won't schedule play of all events below, but here are my events of interest:

    May 31 Event #4: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better
    June 3 Event #10: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship
    June 5 Event #13: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em
    June 9/10 Event #21: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em MILLIONAIRE MAKER
    June 11 Event #24: THE MARATHON - $2,620 No-Limit Hold'em
    June 12 Event #26: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha
    June 16: Event #35: Mixed $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Big O (5-Card PLO/8)
    June 17: Event #34B: $1,000 DOUBLE STACK No-Limit Hold'em
    June 18: Event #37: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em
    June 20: Event #41: $1,500 Limit Hold'em
    June 24: Event #48B: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em MONSTER STACK
    June 25: Event #52: $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship
    June 26: Event #53: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better (one re-entry)
    June 29: Event #60: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship
    June 30: Event #62B: $888 Crazy Eights No-Limit Hold'em 8-Handed
July 3: Event #65B $10,000 NL Holdem Main Event
    July 5: Event #66: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em
    July 9: Event #70: $3,000 Limit Hold'em 6-Handed

I wish I could play the $1500 NL Bounty event (I'm 1/1 in cashing in it, and I enjoyed it), but that interferes with the $10k Limit Holdem.

A more likely schedule for me is shown below.

I also might not play those two Omaha $10k events unless I have a backer or partial backer. I spoke to someone last year who is interested in backing me for those two, but I'll have to see if he's still up for it. Otherwise it's just too much variance for me to play four $10k events. I have played a lot of PLO8 and O8 cash this past year, so I should be competitive in both. I was told that the PLO8 especially was a weak field last year.

    May 31 Event #4: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better
    June 3 Event #10: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship
    June 5 Event #13: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em

    June 16: Event #35: Mixed $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Big O (5-Card PLO/8)
    June 17: Event #34B: $1,000 DOUBLE STACK No-Limit Hold'em*
    June 18: Event #37: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em*
    June 20: Event #41: $1,500 Limit Hold'em
    June 25: Event #52: $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship
    June 26: Event #53: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better (one re-entry)*
    June 29: Event #60: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship

July 3: Event #65B $10,000 NL Holdem Main Event
    July 5: Event #66: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em
    July 9: Event #70: $3,000 Limit Hold'em 6-Handed

    * = Will only play if I fail to make Day 2 of the previous event

At the bottom of this page http://www.wsop.com/news/2017/Dec/94...FINALIZED.html is Seth Palansky's (Editor-in-chief of WSOP.com) twitter link.....and it is a protected account. How fail is that!

    Also anther fail:

    Their news page shows: $1,000 DOUBLE-STACK No-Limit Hold’em (30-minute levels) (replaces a $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em)

The scheduled page shows: $1,000 DOUBLE STACK No-Limit Hold'em 10 000 starting chips. 60-minute levels.

    You never know...

outside of the main, I honestly don't think there will be softer fields than any PLO8 event...I would be willing to bet it's the softest of any of the $10K fields as well...

Not sure how I will work with selling pieces this year.

    Will announce that later.

The Favorite Sandwich thread got more views in a couple hours than the WSOP schedule got in a week.

    Nobody cares

Since I will be in LV but busy with non-poker-related stuff from June 8-11, I'm changing my tentative schedule to the following:

    May 31 Event #4: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better
    June 3 Event #10: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship
    June 5 Event #13: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em

    June 16: Event #35: Mixed $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Big O (5-Card PLO/8)
    June 17: Event #34B: $1,000 DOUBLE STACK No-Limit Hold'em
    June 18: Event #37: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em
    June 20: Event #41: $1,500 Limit Hold'em

    June 25: Event #52: $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship
    June 26: Event #53: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better (one re-entry)
    June 29: Event #60: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship
    June 30: Event #62B: $888 Crazy Eights No-Limit Hold'em 8-Handed

July 3: Event #65B $10,000 NL Holdem Main Event

This looks like my final schedule.

Overall I wish the schedule was laid out differently, as it would be way better if the limit (O8 and holdem) events weren't so spread out. Also I hate having some events after the WSOP Main. But that's the way it is.

Still no decision yet on whether I will sell pieces.

    --------------------------------

    May 31 Event #4: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better
    June 3 Event #10: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship
    June 5 Event #13: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em

    June 16: Event #35: Mixed $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Big O (5-Card PLO/8)
    June 17: Event #34B: $1,000 DOUBLE STACK No-Limit Hold'em*
    June 18: Event #37: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em*
    June 20: Event #41: $1,500 Limit Hold'em
    June 25: Event #52: $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship
    June 26: Event #53: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better (one re-entry)*

July 3: Event #65B $10,000 NL Holdem Main Event
    July 5: Event #66: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em*
    July 9: Event #70: $3,000 Limit Hold'em 6-Handed

The events with an asterisk are ones I will only play if I fail to make Day 2 of the previous event.

I will be selling pieces of the 2018 WSOP, but will NOT be selling any of the $10k events.

The 14 scheduled events are the most I've had on my plate since 2009.

    Here is my schedule:

    May 31 3pm Event #4: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better
    June 2 8pm Mega Satellite: $1100 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better -- can win maximum of $10,100
    June 3 3pm Event #10: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship
    June 5 11am Event #13: $1,500 Big Blind Antes No-Limit Hold'em

    June 16 3pm Event #35: Mixed $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Big O (5-Card PLO/8)
    June 17 11am Event #34B: $1,000 DOUBLE STACK No-Limit Hold'em*
    June 18 11am Event #37: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em*
    June 20 11am Event #41: $1,500 Limit Hold'em
June 24 8pm Mega Satellite: $1100 Limit Holdem - can win maximum of $10,100
    June 25 3pm: Event #52: $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship
    June 26 11am: Event #53: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better (one re-entry)*

July 3 11am: Event #65B $10,000 NL Holdem Main Event
    July 5 3pm: Event #66: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em*
    July 9 3pm: Event #70: $3,000 Limit Hold'em 6-Handed

The events with an asterisk are ones I will only play if I fail to make Day 2 of the previous event.
