How do you know that's him?

I see he's 57 years old, making it less likely (though possible) he started Betcoin. I would have suspected the founder of such a thing to have been younger, even 6 or whatever years ago when it started.

That's definitely him. (plo8monster, Randall Matthews) It's no secret.

He's mostly just a high level shill who's been with them since day one. He probably has less power than he thinks, but knows more details on the operations than he should. He's constantly in player chat, probably drunk, bitching about bad beats and praising Betcoin support for how hard they work and what a great site they are etc. They've probably paid him very well over the years, but I'd be shocked if he didn't lose all or most of it back to the site.

He also worked for Satoshi Poker back in 2012-13 (I'm estimating), before the owner, Bart van Oort spent all the players deposits. Eventually he sold the software, got the players paid back after much drama (ala Full Tilt). Randall still defends SatoshiPoker to this day, because the players were repaid. The former owner is involved to some degree with Betcoin. This thread kind of explains it, but you'd have to do some more digging to get the whole picture. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=312764.0

Randalls son, Machen Matthews should also be held somewhat responsible for everything. He goes by "zzzzzz" on Betcoin, is a mod and runs all sorts of promos and a private slack group to discuss ways to bring new players to Betcoin. https://www.facebook.com/machen.math...DB9hII&fref=nf

Betcoin recently made statement on Bitcointalk. My response will surely be deleted from their self-moderated thread in no time.

Incredible level of scumbaggery going on here.

    Response from Randal Matthews :

tldr - Players found way to exploit casino. Blamed greedy players instead of shitty programmers for ruining it for everyone.

plo8monster: Time for me to chime in 2 days ago
Im sure some of you have been waiting for me to share my thoughts.

First and foremost im am devastated by this, Betcoin Poker and this community, has been like a child to me.
And as i have said countless times, "it takes a village to raise a child".
It was never something i could do without the community helping every day.
I would say we did good from infancy to puberty, and then it got beyond difficult

I made every effort to use integrity and honesty with each and every player here.
And i spent most every waking hour growing this community.
There were some who could care less about the community and they displayed this time and again.
No amount of effort on my part could overcome the chat room antics.
Even when i explained to players they were scaring away new players we needed here, to make this whole venture work.
Those who did this know who you are, and consider yourselves part of why this decision was made
As for the rest of you, please know that i love you each and everyone like family. I mean that sincerely.

As EyeWonBtc mentioned, in the prior post above, that love was not returned by all our players, and the exploit that players recently took advantage of, absolutely spoiled any chance of me asking Betcoin to reconsider.

I have been in a unique position to see both sides, and i can attest to the fact that Betcoin made every effort to be fair and even beyond fair in most all cases involving poker players. even when the players were taking advantage of that good nature. I swear it to be true.
I have seen the sheer volume of resources poker players use for support, which in itself was not the problem. However it was a problem, just not THE only problem.

From day one Betcoin was willing to lose money to establish a Poker Player Base. We spent untold amounts of coin to keep the beloved DailyCoin and other guarantee multi-table tournaments open and running.
Many of you received a lot of love during this, and your Zero2Hero stories kept us willing to continue to bite the bullet.
We absolutely loved to see players come up in the DailyCoin and share that joy thru out the community. Still day after day, week after week, it would not sustain or cover the guarantee. Yet, we continued to trudge the path of happy destiny, in an effort to make it work. It simply was not affordable any longer when Bitcoin began its meteoric rise in price.

Chris, our software engineer, (practically my hero) built this site out from scratch with poker player tools and benefits for players. We spent countless hours and money to build you guys a safe and pleasant poker haven.
Pioneering WPN shared tournaments and features like Betcoin TV for twitch streamers... a Staking platform ... and much more, all done as an effort to help grow Betcoin's multi table traffic. Separating wallet systems to make it all work was no easy feat.

Support continually dealt with less than honest players ( although the vast majority of our players were a pleasure to help ... the bad apples, as i call them, indeed spoiled the entire barrel)
Much time was spent helping poker players, regardless of trivial nature of many support requests, we tried to treat everyone with respect. Honestly some made that incredibly difficult.
I always intervened on players behalf when i felt it was the proper or fair thing to do.
Some pushed that to limits beyond my capacity.
And i guess the point im about to make is an example of that:

A few weeks or perhaps i should say many weeks ago, some players discovered a way to exploit the site by using the defunct ticket system to issue themselves tickets to tournaments that did not run, and then receive Mbtc for the buy ins when they cancelled.... and it grew to be more than just a handful doing it.
This was like a boulder on the camels Back, and then came the straw to break the camels back, (which was actually an even huger boulder) a glitch allowed players to enter mtts for free, and rather than report it and stop the exploit, it absolutely broke my heart to see the sheer number of players and (some i considered close friends) who not only exploited, but entered every possible tournament even the 12 millies coming up, after great efforts and many many (angry) man hours of cleaning up this mess, and paying thru the nose for the losses: Betcoin's new management team decided that the small amount of profit would be no longer be worth the resources spent supporting poker. This has left me no room to ask the new management to reconsider, no latitude to complain about the decision.

i am deeply saddened and hope you realize the entire staff of Betcoin worked day and night to avoid this.
It just became unsustainable with any amount of effort.
I hope this post is not mistaken as many will say because i am a staff member of Betcoin my comment is biased. Nothing could be further from the truth. I am one of you. I am poker player first and foremost, and a friend to so many of you my heart is just broken.

I will miss many of you (especially those who only play poker and will not be here daily).
The community will change of course, and that is to be expected. But i do hope you will continue to stop in and share your experiences with us.
For the many of you who have ask about my well being. please do not worry. I will continue to be here daily. The new management team has decided to keep me on board, perhaps a bit less visible as i will be handling other responsibilities now. However, i will check in forum and players chat often, and continue to provide customer service along with other duties.

I wish every one the very best of luck moving forward. I will continue to play online, under the name plo8monster. I will most likely play on multiple sites, until i feel somewhat comfortable and choose a new poker home. Hope to see you all soon, taking down big scores.

    LOL

This was just posted on bitcointalk 40 minutes ago:

    From Betcoin 40 minutes ago

We are very excited to be taking over what will be a new and improved Betcoin.ag. Additionally, we apologize for the delayed response, but we have been very busy keeping up with the new changes. We would like to respond to the people who have inquired about poker bonus chips and the bad beat jackpot. Both of these were promotions which, according to the site's terms and conditions, could be changed or cancelled at any time. With the discontinuation of our poker program, we are unable to continue these promotions. Thanks again to all our great players and supporters. We look forward to entering this new chapter with you!
    "Promotions"

Yeah, a bad beat jackpot funded by PLAYER MONEY is a "promotion" which can be canceled at any time.

    Hilarious!

I'm going to register an account there finally and rip them a new one.

Here's what I posted. Their interface sucks and I double-posted, and it doesn't support HTML like it claims, but here's the message:

This entire "sale" is complete BS. The owners remain the same, and the "sale" is just a ploy to allow Betcoin to get away with stealing the Bad Beat Jackpot and blaming the previous owners.

To be clear, a Bad Bead Jackpot is NOT a "promotion", as the Betcoin statement claims. It was funded by PLAYER MONEY, and stealing such money is THEFT.

The site owners are making off with 43 bitcoin, which is worth about $670,000 at the moment. This was YOUR money if you played poker on betcoin. They are stealing from you.

There was no "sale" of this site. Here is what happened in reality:

Betcoin was kicked off their poker network for their recent tournament gaffe. They have decided that, without the tournament network, the poker operation isn't worth running anymore. Laws in all countries require the payout of player-funded bad beat jackpots upon a poker room's closure. Betcoin does not want to pay out the $670,000 jackpot, and would rather just steal it. That's why they are pretending to have "sold".

I encourage EVERYONE to boycott betcoin, and I encourage tracking the ownership of this shady site down so the thieves' names and information can be known.

I just reposted the message on a new account, with the following addendum:

** NOTE TO BETCOIN ** Stop deleting these messages or I will set up a bot to repeatedly post this all day and all night. PAY YOUR DEBTS, THIEVES

We will see how they react to this.

I decided to fuck with them some.

They will not allow any registrations on their site with the name "Betcoin", but of course I got around that.

First I reposted my original post under the name "BETCOIN SCAM", and then I decided to imitate them and simply post as "BETCOIN".

Obv will be deleted but at least it's good for some lulz.

It seems Betcoin may be taking a step in the right direction here:

Apology, Bad Beat Jackpot Distribution, and Discussion of the Future of Betcoin.ag

First and foremost, we would like to apologize to the great players that have played with Betcoin.ag over the past 4 years. We apologize to you, because our research indicates that Betcoin.ag has not taken the very best care of you. We also apologize for not handling the Bad Beat Jackpot matter in the most expeditious and fair matter as possible for all of you great players.

Betcoin.ag is now committed to addressing your concerns in the most professional manner and immediately handling player concerns. We are very excited to be improving the overall culture. As our first matter, we believe it is necessary to distribute the Bad Beat Jackpot based on the percentages to players who have contributed to that Jackpot through the years. We will be calculating the totals over the next week to two weeks and expect that all distributions will be posted to player accounts by the second week of January 2018.

We believe that this is the right and just thing to do, as many of you entrusted in Betcoin.ag and continue to do so. We are excited about the future of Betcoin.ag and committed to providing you the very best place to play. We can assure you a mix of new promotions, games and opportunities, as well as an exceptional 24/7 customer support experience. Please check back here for future updates and we sincerely thank all of you for playing at Betcoin.ag.

    https://www.betcoin.ag/apology-bad-b...ture-betcoinag

I am not holding my breath, however, I am in live chat now - they've unbanned me and are having the first reasonable conversation with me in literally years.

An interesting fact. PLO8Monster's son works or owns @ LimeStone Networks. Which is a server/hosting company.

Perfect set up to them to be running betcoin.

    https://www.limestonenetworks.com/

His son is a huge bitcoin advocate. So I have a theory.....

    Dad is a poker player...
Son is a bitcoin advocate...and appears to also play poker....
They both get an idea....I bet we could run a poker site, but instead of messing around with a payment processor, we'll use bitcoin so it can stay anonymous!!!
