This looks like an email that probably went out to dozens, if not hundreds of thousands of people.
Not only was it not personalized, but there was absolutely nothing about the email that gave it veracity and it's clearly a wholesale phishing expedition.
It is very smart though. It takes the angle of attaching people's' curiosity and the feeling that people care enough about them to want to kill them.
They are likely targeting people who use BTC, like gamblers, so this unknown email address was probably used for something poker or crypto related.
