Honestly this beating is a start but if NY gives a shit about its rep in the slightest, I expect more than a handful of teenagers throwing some half assed uppercuts.

it has zero redemptive features but its also absolutely fascinating to chart hiphops mutation into this.

and make absolutely no mistake; these soundcloud rapper junkie nerds are hiphop right now, this is whats currently wearing the crown.

I would not have guessed that Lil Jon wouldn't have room in the top ten worst rappers named Lil. Somehow compared to Lil's of the last few years Lil Jon was a talented entertaining lyricists.

That said i do hope that nobody listens soundcloud rap sober. I assume there's a mental state induced by downers where it sounds like something other than worthless lazy shit.

I fuck with it in the sense that "this is remarkably stupid, i need to find out more about this". Most of the popular songs of the genre sound like something that 20 years ago would have been found on a groups first or second mixtape regarding the amount of effort and talent.

It's just rough crap made by high school kids. Nothing wrong with it but it's just sketches sold as paintings.

but whats amazing is that when you really look at hiphop through the right eyes, you see that its future was going to be rough crap made by high school kids. mortal fucking lock.

especially once the sample lawsuits started to go superham2000 in the late 80s.

like seriously...: trap music? traplanta changed the face of Arakkas and it happened because the fat kid who who couldnt outrun the cops got off the corner and downloaded a cracked copy of FruityLoops.

and then his boys started breathing on the mic and suddenly people were mix tape millionaires (through laundered drug money BUT STILL).

for this to ultimately distill down into high school pill addicts dyeing their hair and getting face tats and literally selling out shows in NYC without ever having a song in mainstream radio rotation is simply outrageous.

find me a 17 year old white girl who doesnt know every single lyric to Betrayed by lil xan, i dare you.

It's amazing and silly, but i'll just assume in 5 years roughly none of the soundcloud rappers are relevant any more.

That said i'm old enough that i can just live the rest of my life listening to music made before 2010 and be perfectly happy.

arguably they arent really relevant now to anyone who has put puberty in their rear view mirror. which is kinda worrisome from a certain perspective because it means that entire culture is basically self perpetuating and a closed economic system.

as long as there are drugs and teenagers to do them, soundcloud rappers are going to be a thing, and michael and i are going to continue to push obscure memes about them.

speaking of which, when i see full grown men like adamtwentytwo basically making a youtube living off interviewing soundcloud rappers, im like, i dont think id be comfortable letting my kids near this guy.

maybe id feel totally different about it if i got to know him.

but at facevalue.... not a good look, not really.

He ran a bmx shop for years where tons of kids loitered. I think he also did some music promotion and other hustles. He had Lil Pump on tour before anyone had heard of him. I'd say he's not as much of a leech and douchebag as he appears to be. Just an old bmx biker. I give huge pass to anyone that put in years to almost any scene.

I can totally see a few random sexual assault, drug and fraud charges in his future, but he's still only like the 7th most worrisome character at a backstage of a Lil Xan concert. Money and drugs in the hands of kids tend to attract an interesting crowd.

19 hours until i can rep that.

real talk all these kids are radioactive. like i actually believe tekashi69 when he said he never touched the 14 year old who stripped at the party he was at and a bunch of dudes ran train on, but i also believe absolutely that an average afterparty in his life involves statutory rape, underage trafficking, child pornography, and white slavery, and hes just totally oblivious because hes like "yeah ill do coke and get naked with this girl who literally tackled me in the bedroom and is smothering me in her naked tits", never knowing that shes like 15 years old.
