yeah but it asked me for a copy of my passport or drivers license to buy from coinbase ive already regd my phone number and email address surprising how much messing round is involved for such a small purchase

Coinbase has money transmitter licenses in a bunch of different states so they have to follow Federal (like the patriot act) and State regulations (including KYC)
